Sicklesteel Cranes has been involved with developing state and national crane-safety rules.

Sicklesteel Cranes promotes safety within the company and throughout the industry.

The AGC Safety Team member has put stringent safety programs in place and finished 2010 without a single lost-time incident or recordable injury.

The company and its president, Thom Sicklesteel, are leaders in the industry for their efforts to develop regulations and standards to improve crane safety at both the state and national levels.

After the federal Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act was passed to give small businesses a greater voice in the development of regulations, Sicklesteel participated on a committee to review the draft rule for cranes and derricks. The company was one of only a handful of members who spoke in favor of nationally accredited operator certification.

Sicklesteel also helped write Washington state legislation requiring nationally accredited operator certification, certified cranes and nationally accredited crane certifiers. The company participated in every stakeholder meeting and was also a member of the stakeholder group that crafted solutions to contentious subject areas in the Washington state crane rule.

Within the AGC of Washington, Sicklesteel helped develop a crane safety subcommittee where crane issues and regulations could be addressed.
