Cast in Place Parking Garages

Bellevue Community College parking garage

Location: 3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue

Owner/developer: Bellevue Community College

Project team:PCL Construction Services, general and concrete contractor; LMN Architects, architect; Magnusson Klemencic Associates, structural engineer; Cadman, ready-mix supplier

The four-story parking garage at Bellevue Community College was built into a sloping site. It includes 720 parking stalls, a multiuse transit waiting area structure, sidewalks, landscaping and new roadway.

The 243,000-square-foot garage is a post-tensioned structure with a moment-frame lateral system. It was engineered to accept a future fifth level. Because of the sloping site, garage entries were designed on the first, third and fourth levels.

A special waterproof concrete was used on the top deck of the garage. The new mix, called Repelex, was also designed to have low shrinkage, vapor emissions and capillary absorption.

The 1,000-square-foot transit waiting area structure, located on the project’s west end, contains a machine room for the garage’s two-cab elevator system, rest rooms and vending machines.
