Moen residence

Location:Port Orchard

Owner/developer: Anonymous

Project team: Master Craftsmen and Builders, general and concrete contractor; Donna Moen Design, architect; Artisan Engineering, structural engineer; Fred Hill Materials, ready-mix supplier

The exterior of this home was built with insulated concrete forms that transition from 8 to 6 inches as they move up the structure’s height. Using the forms eliminated the need for wood framing.

Other exterior concrete materials included HardiPlank siding.

On the inside, flooring in the basement was poured 4 inches thick and then hand troweled and acid stained. A radiant heat system keeps it warm. The main floor got a similar treatment with 3 inches of slab. Concrete was also used for the shower pan in the master bathroom.
