Harris residence

Location: Silverdale

Owner/developer: Byron Harris

Project team: FPH Construction, general contractor; Foltz Concrete Construction, Evolution Concrete and Absolute ConcreteWorks, concrete contractors; Tobiason Cates, interior designer; Hard Rock Ready Mix, ready-mix supplier

Concrete was used in several areas of this waterfront home.

The patio has concrete with exposed aggregate. Large, natural rocks were left in place and the concrete poured around them. A wide set of steps connects the upper patio to a second patio near the water that has a built-in barbecue and fire pit. Concrete also was used to make a boat ramp that runs down one side of the home.

The home’s driveway and parking area were made with stamped and colored concrete, which includes a wagon wheel design that accents the home.

Inside, the lower floor of the home has a terrazzo finish designed to resemble a flowing river leading to a wine/cigar room. The bar has a concrete top with inlaid Harley Davidson parts, including drink holders made of motorcycle cylinder sleeves. The bar top was colored to resemble a road with centerlines, fog and a riverbank on the its edge.

The owner parks his Mercedes and Harley in the room.
