The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington chose six projects as winners in its 2003 Excellence in Construction Awards. Winners were recognized last night at a banquet in Seattle.
“All of the projects that were submitted were outstanding examples of the superior construction and efficient budgeting of time and resources that results when contractors and subcontractors are selected on the basis of merit — qualifications, performance and price,” said Joan Baldwin, 2002-2003 ABC chair and CFO of TEC Mechanical Service Co. “From large-scale public work, tenant improvements and new commercial construction to challenging historical renovation, the entrants exemplify the versatility and skill of ABC members.”
The awards credit all members of the teams responsible for winning projects, from contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, to owners, architects and engineers.
Judges for this year’s contest included: Phil Brown of the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce; David Glassman of Mulvanny G2; John E. Schaufelberger of the Department of Construction Management at the University of Washington College of Architecture & Urban Planning; and Jeff Jeffers and Steve Schlenker of Collins Woerman.
ABC of Western Washington represents over 400 open and union shop companies, professional service firms and suppliers.
