Construction Enterprises & Contractors is finishing up a new Infiniti dealership in the Fife/Tacoma area.

Construction Enterprises & Contractors President Gregg Warter said his company began its 56th year of business with a surge of development and construction opportunities with the addition of Mike Medrzycki as director of business development.

The 40-employee Tacoma company may be looking to expand as its work load increases. “Our intent is to maintain our strong competitive position in the industry and continue providing superior team-build preconstruction services to prospective clients throughout Western Washington,” Medrzycki said.

He added the construction industry in general is “picking up steam.” There seems to be “quite a bit of planning and designing going on, which seems to be projecting developer and consumer confidence in our market.”

While the office and retail markets seem stagnant, Construction Enterprises & Contractors is working with a client to build what Medrzycki calls a high-end retail facility. He did not elaborate other than to say it’s in a congested King County business district and will entail several levels of underground parking.

“The highly visible facility is being built into the side of a large hill, which brings many challenges — geotechnical, civil and structural — to the development team, as well as finding creative solutions to meet the budget requirements and maintain cost control,” Medrzycki said.

As office and retail development struggle in general, there are some steady markets. Medrzycki said they are incubator light-manufacturing/distribution, industrial, medical office and churches.
