‘There is still some tightness in the sub market, especially with sub bonds. Money markets have gotten tighter.’

“I quite frankly wouldn’t be surprised to see us beat our plans the next couple years,” he said. Revenue this year is expected to be up $16 million from last year.

After being tracked for a few years, some jobs are finally starting to begin. A slow market had been keeping them from breaking ground.

Still, subcontractors are having to be more selective about what they’ll build, said Holbrook. “There is still some tightness in the sub market, especially with sub bonds. Money markets have gotten tighter,” he said.

Turner is taking on a number of healthcare projects, a market Holbrook describes as robust. But the reason for high activity in this sector is unclear. “It’s not like California where I can tie it directly back to requirements” for hospitals to undergo renovations or new construction, he said.

Seismic renovations at Harborview and work at medical centers in Eugene, Ore., and Portland are some of Turner’s new projects.
