W.G. Clark president Mike Ducey said the biggest challenge this year will be to find workers the company needs to complete all of its projects, both in the management and the subcontracting end of things. “I think it’s going to be a challenge for everybody,” Ducey said, “subcontractors and general contractors alike, to find qualified workers.
He’s got his strategies to deal with it. “The main thing is to communicate with the subcontractors and make sure they’re not getting overloaded,” Ducey said. Lots of projects The good news is there are a lot of construction projects out there. “(There’s) a lot of work going on,” said Ducey. “It doesn’t look like it’s slowing down.”
W.G. Clark is still working on the Neptune, a 234-unit luxury apartment building in South Lake Union. The $33 million building is W.G. Clark’s fourth project for Simpson Housing. It should be finished by October. W.G. Clark will also be doing plumbing upgrades and exterior work for eight high-rise buildings belonging to the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA).
