Berger

After nearly 30 years in the Eastlake neighborhood, the firm has moved to Westlake, and Jeff Girvin has assumed the role of president. Founder Tom Berger will oversee the firm’s continuing education program. The new 6,000-square-foot office space was completed early last year and coincided with a leadership re-organization.

“We feel that diverse clientele and project types can be best served by providing focused services. It helps to keep our unique personality in the design profession. Too many firms are diversifying the services they provide and diluting their corporate character into just another ‘big box’ architecture and engineering firm,” said Girvin.

Markets include educational, commercial and public facilities, and residential projects. Staffing and billings remain steady at around 35 people and $3 million, respectively.

On the boards now is the Sand Point Magnuson Park athletic fields project. The project includes wetlands and drainage for the entire site. It’s size and the importance it holds as a city-wide park has allowed the firm to apply expertise in multiple landscape architectural disciplines such as site planning, environmental design and athletic field design.

Puget Sound Environmental Learning Center, on Bainbridge Island, is nearing completion.
