Limestone was selected for the exterior of this Seattle home for its durability and performance. The clients sought a contemporary look that didn’t feel cold.

This three-bedroom home is located on the shores of Lake Washington with expansive water and mountain views.

The clients asked for a timeless, enduring structure that was distinctly contemporary with a quiet but powerful presence.

It was important that their home have warm interior spaces that had a strong relationship with the outdoors.

To avoid a home that felt cold, they requested the use of natural materials. Stone was selected for the cladding for its durability and performance.

Sawn Texas limestone with a seemingly random coursing and minimal grout joint was used to give a refined and softer character. The exterior was rigorously detailed to reinforce the contemporary influence and eliminate unnecessary and extraneous elements.
