A project to restore the University of Washington’s Savery Hall included installing new terra-cotta units, seismically retrofitting the brick veneer and repairing and installing new sandstone.

The architect of record, SRG Partnership, teamed up with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates for the rehabilitation design and construction administration of the exterior masonry. Hoffman Construction Co. hired Pioneer Masonry Restoration to complete the masonry restoration work.

The extensive masonry restoration included removing hazardous paint, installing new terra-cotta units, seismically retrofitting the brick veneer, repairing and installing new sandstone, repointing and cleaning the building.

The interior has been remodeled using several sustainable and energy-efficient design strategies. The project is on track to receive a LEED gold certification.
