Brick masonry wraps the exterior of the four-story, 63,000-square-foot Milgard Work Opportunity Center in Tacoma.

The new Milgard Work Opportunity Center at Tacoma Goodwill combines Goodwill’s new administrative headquarters with a youth career center and an adult work opportunity center.

The facility was designed to achieve LEED gold certification.

Brick masonry was selected as the primary exterior cladding material, and is used to wrap the body of the building. Concrete was used for the base and metal siding to complement the top floor and entrances.

The combination enabled the design to take advantage of the brick’s natural color and its ability to blend with the existing environment.
