Hamilton International Middle School holds a special place in the life of its community. The renovation of this iconic school presented a unique challenge: maintain Hamilton’s architectural and cultural legacy while transforming an obsolete building into contemporary educational space.

The design solution included restoring the original architectural splendor of the 1927 Jacobean revival building. To create a grand sense of entry and place, the original south main entrance was refurbished after years of diminished prominence. Restoration of the building envelope included meticulous cleaning of all existing masonry, repair and replacement of the terra-cotta, repair and re-pointing of masonry mortar, and replacement of damaged brick with salvaged brick.
