Maier Hall is a multi-disciplinary center for fine arts, music, humanities and instructional support programs at Peninsula College.

The building is clad in brick articulated by oversized steel shelf angles that trace the line of each floor of the building, supporting the masonry and aligning with the floor-to-ceiling curtainwall system to emphasize the veneered nature of the application.

Brick is the college’s standard for cladding because it expresses an academic identity. The durable, economical material is highly sustainable. It was locally extracted and sourced, and will serve for the life of the building.

Maier Hall serves as an edge to the campus and a gateway to the nature beyond. The project is designed to meet or exceed the 2011 target of the Architecture 2030 Building Challenge for reducing energy use, and is anticipated to achieve LEED gold certification.
