For the first time in its history, the Suquamish Tribe has opened a townhome-style housing project, offering affordable homes to tribe members.
The development, called the Enetai Townhomes, is located on the tribe's Suquamish Shores waterfront property, which is part of the Port Madison Indian Reservation.
The community consists of 20 townhomes surrounded by common areas, natural landscaping and green space. There are eight 1,200-square-foot, two-bedroom, townhomes; eight 1,500-square-foot, three-bedroom, townhomes; and four 1,672-square-foot, four-bedroom, townhomes. Three of the units are ADA accessible.
The homes were designed by Rice Fergus Miller, which is headquartered in nearby Bremerton, and were built by Clark Construction.
The townhomes are close to the waterfront, and a short distance from other tribal community buildings.
Funding sources include $1.5 million in Community Project funding from the federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022.
The Suquamish Tribe regained control of Suquamish Shores, which totals 36 acres, in 2018. Before that, the tribe had leased the land to a non-tribal developer for 50 years.
