Earlier this summer, what was lurking beneath that white plastic and scaffolding on Pier 57?

Our nearly completed waterfront makeover, worth over $4 billion for all its bits and pieces, is nearly done. The official opening will come Sept. 6. Finishing and polishing work will continue until next summer, when the cruise ships, tourists and World Cup fans arrive.
