State jobless rate ticks up to 4.7%

OLYMPIA — Washington state's economy increased by about 9,000 jobs (seasonally adjusted) in December, according to the latest jobs report from the state Employment Security Department.

The monthly unemployment rate increased to 4.7% from 4.6% in November. The national unemployment rate decreased from 4.5% to 4.4% for the month.
