OLYMPIA — The state Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has drafted changes to the state's contractor registration rules to implement a new Homeowner Recovery Program.
The changes are necessary because of legislation passed in 2023, 2SHB 1534, that strengthened protections for consumers harmed by contractors. The program will allow eligible homeowners to apply for recovery payments of up to $25,000 for financial losses stemming from work by registered contractors.
