Community Roots puts new mass-timber Heartwood on the block

The building is about 80% leased, though with income caps on some units.

On Capitol Hill, Community Roots Housing opened the mostly mass-timber Heartwood apartments in the fall of 2023. The affordable housing specialist worked with architect atelierjones and builder Swinerton on the handsome eight-story, 126-unit project at 1323 E. Union St.
