80 affordable units for Rainier Valley

SEATTLE — North of the baseball fields for Rainier Beach High School, at and around 8428 Rainier Ave. S., there's a vacant and very overgrown patch of land, which extends east to South Cloverdale Place. It spans about an acre, with an irregular shape, and is also partially wetlands. It's zoned up to 55 feet.

Now there's a plan for a mixed-use affordable housing project from the nonprofit Ethiopian Community in Seattle. Architect Environmental Works envisions a possible 70 to 80 units, with a childcare center, support services and early learning center. Units could range from one- to three-beds. Parking isn't specified.
