Corliss acquires Renton site

RENTON — Once owned and run by its namesake family, Compton Lumber was sold in 2018 to Stacey Holdings of Louisiana. After leaving its old home in SoDo, Compton first leased then bought about 5.8 acres at 2940 E. Valley Road. That's immediately west of Highway 167, and north of Ikea.

With Ronhovde Architects, a proposal emerged before the pandemic to develop a new 50,000-square-foot Compton building. Plans were fairly firm as of 2023, when Compton bought its intended building site for $6.9 million. It also borrowed from 1892 Capital Partners LLC to finance the deal.
