Description
The new 142,000-square-foot Eastmont Junior High School is designed to create a sense of unity and family within the school. The new facility will provide education space for 1,000 eighth and ninth grade students in the Eastmont Valley.

Project goals established by the school district's building committee include a student-centered building; a school that encourages interaction, activity and lifelong learning; a building that reflects the site and character of its surroundings; maximization of natural light; and an emphasis on the importance of education in the Eastmont Community.

Technology is a focal point at the junior high school, with every classroom equipped with telephone, television and computer access. The school will also provide extensive community use outside of the school day.

The 38-acre campus includes the development of 27 acres into playfields, parking, parent and bus drop off areas. The playfields include baseball and softball fields, a soccer field, tennis courts, and a football field surrounded by a synthetic track.

It is anticipated that the building will be ready for occupancy in fall 2002.
