Hogue Hall was expanded to three times its original size. It is targeting LEED platinum.

Location: Ellensburg
Architect: LMN
Agency/owner: Central Washington University
General contractor: TW Clark Construction

The newly renovated and expanded Hogue Hall is a 92,000-square-foot facility that triples the size of the original building. It serves the rapidly growing Industrial & Engineering Technology Department at Central Washington University.

Targeting LEED platinum, the facility is a manifestation of the vision to train the next generation of industrial engineers and construction managers in the state’s emerging “green” economy. The design encourages a culture of collaborative investigation and hands-on learning, and the facility is densely packed with spaces that echo private-sector industrial engineering processes.

The building functions as a living, educational demonstration of green building technology, including a “working roof” where faculty and students assemble and test wind turbines and photovoltaic systems.
