A 5,400-square-foot renovation and 850-square-foot addition to a 1926 home in Seattle’s Washington Park neighborhood was to replicate exact details of historic period elements in the home. The entire interior, save the historic handrail and fireplace mantel, was stripped and rebuilt. The basement was excavated down 2 feet and the foundations were extended. Custom interior and exterior millwork profiles were created to match period profiles of materials that could not be reused. Exact radiuses of archways, built-in cabinets, and wood double-hung windows throughout mimicked the originals. New technologies were incorporated to blend unobtrusively to maintain all period elements.
