The Associated General Contractors of Washington honored 16 companies on Friday, May 21, at its 19th Annual Safety and Construction Excellence Awards banquet in Bellevue.

Winners of the Grand Awards were PCL Construction Services for Construction Excellence with the Everett Events Center and Goodfellow Bros. for Safety Excellence. A new award was presented this year to recognize a superintendent for commitment to jobsite safety. This year, the Superintendent of the Year Award was given to Harvey Pegg from Mowat Construction Co.

“This year’s winners represent a broad range of AGC members from small to large companies, union and non-union, subcontractor and general contractors,” said AGC President Wilf Wainhouse. “We are proud of all their efforts to make the industry shine.”

This year’s judges for the construction awards were: David Carns of Central Washington University, Tim Jewett of Dykeman, Jay Taylor of Magnusson Klemencic Associates, and Ben Minnick of the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. Safety judges included: Greg Rust of BP Cherrypoint Refinery, Mike Schultz of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, Darrell Tsujii of the University of Washington Environmental Health and Safety Department, Dale Cavanaugh of OSHA Region 10, and Mel James of Washington Department of Labor and Industries.
