Superintendent of the Year

Harvey Pegg - Mowat Construction Co.

Harvey Pegg of Mowat Construction is the winner of the first Superintendent of the Year award.

Harvey Pegg of Mowat Construction Co. was selected as AGC of Washington’s Superintendent of the Year for his commitment to jobsite safety.

Having worked for Mowat since 1982, Pegg represents the best of the get-the-job-done supervisors.

In 1996, Mowat launched an aggressive safety campaign that required supervisors to think in a whole new way about safety as they developed a corporate safety culture. Pegg was determined to make safety an important part of his job responsibility.

Pegg has created careful fall protection plans, finely detailed lead plans, begun performing daily and weekly safety inspections, and devised methods to hold his foremen and operators accountable.

Harvey applied his imagination to the problems of keeping work crews safe and healthy. To help keep blood lead levels low from airborne lead exposure, he designed and built a lead decontamination trailer. When he was planning a recent project, he insisted Mowat buy a state-of-the-art stair tower and platform materials to eliminate the need for harnesses and lanyards in most locations.
