Aecon workers and subcontractors have weekly safety meetings.

At Aecon safety comes first, both with its employees and subcontractors.

Subcontractors are required to have a pre-construction orientation on Aecon’s safety program and are provided with comprehensive training on the site-specific plan. These steps are taken to emphasize to the subcontractors the importance of safety on Aecon’s job sites.

At weekly safety meetings, employees and subcontractors address safety concerns in an open forum, allowing the team to work together to identify and solve site-specific safety issues. Standard safety procedures are also discussed at the meetings.

Project managers, project engineers, superintendents, forepersons and field lead personnel are required to be OSHA 10-hour trained. All employees are required to attend annual training to review the company accident prevention program.

Aecon recently celebrated its annual corporate-wide Safety Day where employees and subcontractors gathered for a day focused on safety and teamwork. Safety Day began with a safety briefing by Aecon’s president, followed by lunch with company officers and managers, and dissemination of posters and other memorabilia.
