Jmaiff

The 2007 Superintendent of the Year is Louie Jmaiff from Aecon Buildings.

A longtime employee of Aecon, Jmaiff brings decades of experience and leads with integrity, ability and intelligence. His proactive approach to his work is well respected and he is a leader in implementing Aecon’s safety program.

Jmaiff has worked closely with subcontractors to identify potential hazards and has put programs in place to avoid accidents. For example, two potential hazards were brought up in a subcontractor’s meeting. The first was that of an injured worker needing to be taken from the upper floors of the building, and the second a disabled tower crane operator. Jmaiff had a man basket brought in and coordinated with the local fire department for safe rescue operations should the need arise.

By giving safety his personal attention, Jmaiff sets the tone for project culture that emphasizes both safety and teamwork.

In 2006, Jmaiff’s direct supervision, including subcontractors, included 93,000 worker hours with zero OSHA recordables and zero lost-time accidents. In addition, no OSHA/DOSH citations or warnings were issued on his jobsite.
