Floyd Snider McCarthy
Speciality: Strategy, science, engineering, construction management
Floyd Snider McCarthy has changed its name but not its focus: helping landowners redevelop contaminated property. Principal Dan McCarthy left in May and took his own clients, but will collaborate on ongoing projects. Shoreline facilities expert John Herzog joined as a principal at the beginning of this year. Kate Snider, who founded the firm with Teri Floyd in 1996, said though Floyd Snider is small, it can offer a full range of services. When outside expertise is required, such as for biological, structural or geotechnical work, subcontractors are hired. Floyd Snider then leads collaboration on strategies and technical solutions to redevelop contaminated properties, often on waterfronts. Floyd Snider works at sites on both coasts. Projects are varied, ranging from in-water marine sediment cleanup to construction management. Clients are also diverse, said Snider, and include ports, municipalities and land developers. Construction of dredging and under-pier capping recently began at Todd Pacific Shipyards on the Harbor Island Superfund project, which Floyd Snider has been part of since 2001. Superfund sites under investigation 20 years ago are now beginning to go into the construction phase, said Snider. That’s one way the industry and marketplace continue to change, she said. |
