The slump in private sector office development is likely to continue for a few more years but other aspects of the firm’s work — including urban mixed-use projects, housing and healthcare — continue to grow, according to Mark Brumbaugh, principal of Brumbaugh & Associates. Staffing has remained relatively stable over the last year with a current size of six.

Brumbaugh said traffic and growth management are encouraging more urban infill mixed-use projects, meaning that transportation infrastructure improvements will be critical to the future economic viability of the region. In the meantime, interest in green building and associated LEED certification by the US Green Building Council has become more mainstream and continues to grow with all client and project types. Brumbaugh is active on the council’s technical advisory board.
