President’s message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this commemorative supplement honoring CREW Seattle’s 20th anniversary.

As you read through this tribute, ask yourself what you were doing 20 years ago.

I was just starting my career in commercial real estate, not knowing it would be long-term. Like so many, I stumbled into the industry and with the help of many remarkable mentors, it has become a rewarding career. Much of the guidance that I received came through CREW. I distinctly remember attending my first CREW convention in Seattle a decade ago and its huge impact on me.

As women in business have made tremendous strides over the years, so has CREW Seattle. Twenty years, 20 presidents, 20 boards of directors, countless volunteers and immeasurable hours of service have made CREW Seattle a highly respected and successful organization.

Today, the industry as a whole is different in many ways. College graduates are able to enter the workforce with a greater understanding of our industry after the specialized study of commercial real estate. Women are no longer a minority in the workplace and continue to move into higher-level positions, paving the way for young women to follow.

The pace of business is faster with the advancement in technology. And through technology we are able to cultivate a wide network of business relationships.

CREW Seattle supports the advancement of women in commercial real estate and through its generous sponsors will continue to do so for many years. These sponsors honor the achievements of women in the industry and they understand the importance of parity as we head into the future. To all of the sponsors of CREW Seattle, please accept my deepest gratitude. You are partners in an organization that is truly dedicated to making the commercial real estate industry exceptional.

Happy 20th anniversary to us all.

Patricia Parsons

2006 CREW Seattle President
