Alexander Grieve has been promoted to vice president at Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs (ABKJ). He has been with the firm for four years serving as director of transportation and was project manager for the Kelso multi-modal transportation facility and the Elliot Bridge in King County. David L. Berg has been promoted to project manager at ABKJ. A civil engineer with over 24 years experience, he is currently responsible for civil design of the new Boeing Headquarters and Coast Guard family housing in Honolulu. Robert M. Bigler has joined ABKJ as a recent graduate of Stanford University, where he earned degrees in structures and construction. Dodie Matthews has joined the staff as an administrative assistant.
Catherine "Kit" Herrod has joined the marketing department of NBBJ as commercial and corporate design marketing manager. Prior to joining NBBJ, Herrod was the vice president /market manager for West One Bank. She holds a degree in economics from Stanford University and a degree in art history from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Ronald Poulsen has been named senior project manager at HDR Engineering, Inc. in the company's Seattle office. His responsibilities include client liaison with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Poulson was previously senior project manager in the company's Omaha, Neb. office. He has more than 30 years of engineering experience with the Union Pacific Railroad Company and as a consultant.
Greg Brower has been name associate with The Berger Partnership. Since joining the firm in 1990, he has been on the design team for the REI flagship store, the North Fork Ridge learning center, and the Villa Mount Eden Winery gateways and gardens in Medina. Brower is now serving as project manager for the firm's work on the new University of Washington/Cascadia Community College Campus. Jud Youell has been promoted to project manager at Berger. His projects have included the fourth phase of King County's Big Finn Hill Park, Rice Stadium SportGrass Field at the University of Utah, and Marvel Golf Course, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Peter Taylor and Guy Michaelsen have been promoted within the landscape technical staff. Erica Kendall has joined the firm as administrative coordinator, and Angie Keeler has joined Berger as an administrative assistant.
Dick Burkhalter as joined Parametrix, Inc. as a senior engineer in the water and wastewater group. He will be responsible for assisting industrial clients in meeting various air and water quality requirements. Burkhalter was with the Department of Ecology for 25 years as head of the industrial section responsible for implementing all environmental regulations pertaining to major industry in the state. Most recently, he was with Landau Associates.
Doug Thompson has joined the Seattle office of Eckland Consultants, which specializes in environmental due diligence consulting to the real estate industry. A graduate of Washington and Cornell University, he is a licensed architect in the state of Washington.
Elizabeth Williams has been named senior associate with Thomas Hacker & Associates Architects in Portland. Since joining the firm in 1988, she has been repsonsible for maintaining design quality for major projects such as the School of Nursing at Oregon Health Sciences University and the Crate's Point Interpretive Center in The Dalles. She is currently on the design team for the Portland State University Urban Center project.
Tania Busch and James Greer have joined Walker and Associates as photo laboratory technicians. Busch has a background in medical photography and Greer in photographic labs. Laureen O'Toole Kelly has rejoined the firm as a retail salesperson after an absence of three years. She assists clients in searching Walker's extensive aerial photographic laboratory.
