A public forum will be held March 25 to discuss the future of Holly Park, a low-income housing project in Seattle. Recent congressional funding cuts have jeopardized planned redevelopment projects. The forum will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the University of Washington's School of Architecture, in Gould Hall (southeast corner of Northeast 40th Street and University Way Northeast). A workshop on the issue will be held March 26 to the 30th, and another forum is planned for March 31. Members of the public, public housing residents, planners, architect and activists are urged to attend. Information: 523-2569.
The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) is sponsoring a course on managing and leasing commercial property at North Seattle Community College. Course number 203 is approved for 30 clock hours for Washington state licensing requirements and may count as elective credit toward IREM's CPM designation. Cucina! Presto! has opened it tenth location at 10727 S.E. Carr Rd., Renton. The Bellevue-based chain is known for its eat-in and take-home Italian food. Architectural design and interior decor was provided by Mesher, Shing and Associates of Seattle, designers of the original Cucina! Cucina! Italian Cafe in Seattle. Construction was by the Rafn Company, and murals by Eclectic Surfaces, both of Seattle.

Mark Litzinger has been promoted to director of corporate health and safety at URS Greiner. He will be responsible for multi-year occupational health and safety programs with the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and at he U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He has 15 years combined experience in the consulting, aerospace and nuclear industries.
Timothy J. Nordin has joined the civil engineering division of Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, Inc. (ABKJ) with specialized experience in stormwater management and scour hydraulics. Tyson W. Johnson comes to the firm from Vancouver, B.C. with over 20 years experience in structural engineering, including buildings and bridges. Joseph V. Struska has also joined the staff as an engineer. He is currently at work on the Southwoods Ecocentrum, a 138-acre amusement/retail complex in Manila, Philippines.
Christophe Dauriac has joined HDR Engineering, Inc. as a transportation engineer in the company's Seattle office. Prior to joining the Seattle office, Dauriac was located in the company's Omaha office working under the former parent corporation, Bouygues. He has participated in research and development of a new ultra-high-strength composite concrete material, reactive power concrete.
Lisa Johnson, Martin de Vrieze, Elena Dunkelberger and Magenta Pierrot were recently added to the growing staff of DLR/John Graham Associates. Johnson, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, was previously with Broderick Architects in Seattle. She is at work on the North Whidbey Middle School. de Vrieze is a mechanical engineer previously with Blunt, Hamm Urquart Engineers in Tacoma. He is presently contributing to the Whittier elementary new school construction, and the University of Washington Family Housing. Dunkelberger and Pierrot have joined the firm as project administrators.
Matt Corsi has been promoted to the position of project manager with Cary Kopczynski & Company. He recently completed work on the Bellevue Square West parking structure expansion, the Oxbow Bridge on the Duwamish River, and the Chinook Winds Gaming and Convention Center in Lincoln City, Oregon. Sheri Ehrgott has been named marketing director and human resources manager at Cary Kopczynski.
Ronald C. Harpel has been promoted to associate with Architects Reed Reinvald Johnson and Willows (ARRJW) of Tacoma. Since joining the firm in 1995, he has been involved in projects for the Port Townsend School District, the Puyallup School District, Tacoma School District and the Auburn School District. He will be the project architect for the schematic design phase of the Thea Foss Waterway Esplanade and support the design efforts on the International Museum of Modern Glass.
Larry Walton has joined Otak, Inc. as a network manager. He has over seven years of technical experience including managing a full range eof network systems. He was previously with Virtual iO.
Sergio Chin-Ley has been promoted to the position of associate with Greaves Architecture in Seattle. Since joining the firm in 1993, he has served as project designer for the Sonic's Team Shop at the Key Arena and Sur La Table in Seattle, Kirkland, Berkeley and San Francisco.
Thomas S. Barger Jr., a survey project coordinator with W&H Pacific, Inc., has successfully completed the national portion of the Land Surveyer's examination to become a registered Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT). Crisna C. Estrada, who holds a civil engineering degree form the University of Washington, recently became registered as an Engineer In Training (EIT). She has been in intern at W&H Pacific since 1995 and is currently a project designer with the transportation group.
Economic and Engineering Services, Inc. (EES) has expanded its services to become a full-service infrastructure management, design and implementation consultant to municipal electric and water utilities. With offices in Bellevue, Olympia and Portland, EES specializes in economic and financial rate studies, water quality and treatment, and water resources and utility management. Client services will be managed by president Bob Wubbena and other principals, Randy Goff, Tom Gould, Gregg Kirmeyer and John Maxwell.
