Graphic Associates, a Bellevue-based graphic design firm, has hired Klindt Parker as a designer.

Phoenix Gold International, Inc. has appointed David Keith as vice president of engineering. Based in Portland, Phoenix Gold designs and manufactures high performance electronics, accessories and speakers for automobiles, custom home audio/video systems and professional sound markets.
Reed, Revell-Pechar, Inc. (RRP), a Bellevue-based advertising and public relations agency, has added the service of web design to its clients. In addition, RRP has hired Jay Forde as Internet web and production artist; Terry Moos as communications manager; and John Williams as public relations manager. J. Duncan Findlay, recently elected to the Shannon & Wilson board of directors, has been officially named as the western region director and branch manager of the Seattle office. He has served as legal counsel for the firm for nearly 20 years and has reviewed and negotiated many of its largest contracts. In addition to his previous responsibilities, he will facilitate business development activities throughout the Northwest. Hollie Ellis, director of computer services at Shannon & Wilson, has been promoted to vice president after 28 years with the firm. His direction in programming, computer science and statistics was critical to the success of some of the firm's largest projects, including the $7 billion Boston Central Artery.
Structural engineers Bruce Erickson, Diana Leonard, Brian Pavlovec and Greg Varney have been promoted to associate status at KPFF. Erickson joined KPFF in 1985. He is currently at work on the King Street Center, the University of Washington Utility Tunnel Extension, and shoring systems design for the Starwood Hotel and the Meridian. Leonard joined KPFF in 1984. She has worked on all phases of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and is currently at work on the fisheries and oceanography buildings at the University of Washington Southwest Campus. She also worked on the recently completed biology and Science III facilities at Western Washington University. Pavlovec, who joined the firm in 1994, has been involved with port site storage buildings, the Red Dog Mine in Northwest Alaska, renovation at Northgate Mall and the Seattle Starwood Hotel. Prior to joining KPFF, he worked on the Johns Hopkins University Medical Research Facility and the Center for Advanced Medicine at the University of Chicago. Varney is at work on the Washington State Emergency Operations Center, which is the first seismically base-isolated facility in the state; the Dexter Horton Building upgrade design; the Seattle Starwood Hotel; the Meridian East retail complex; and the renovation of the 601 Pine Building. Varney was instrumental in assessing structures damaged by the Northridge earthquake, and, as a structural specialist with the Puget Sound Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, he assisted with stabilization of the damaged Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Varney joined KPFF in 1993.
GGLO has added four new staff members to the firm. Helen Weinberg has joined the firm as a project architect working on University Village. She was previously with Mithun Partners. Linda Hoffman has joined GGLO as the managing director. Colleen Knowles is a new staff architect at GGLO, working on Fidelity Investments. She was previously with JPC. Nancy Henderson, previously with Baylis Brand Wagner, is also a staff architect, working on the Redmond Midrise.
Mary Claire Frazier has joined the staff of Candela as a senior lighting designer. Her past projects include the Mt. St. Helens visitors' center, the downtown Seattle underground transit stations and the Washington State Trade and Convention Center. She recently completed work on the Westin Hotel meeting room renovation project and is currently designing lighting systems for Seattle University Law School, the Starwood Hotel and the University of Washington Mary Gates Hall. Jeff Losnegard has also joined the Candela staff as a senior lighting designer. He has spent the last ten years as electrical consultant for Candela's parent company, Sparling. He has received design awards for the Port Angeles Senior Center and the Harrison Memorial Hospital Surgery Expansion.
Todd Bovey has returned to the Bellevue office of SSOE as lead mechanical engineer, and has already managed a multi-discipline, fast track project for a high-tech company in California.
Reid H. Shockey, president of Shockey/Brent, Inc. has been appointed to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Citizen Oversight Panel, which will review progress of the RTA on financial, operational and other fronts. Shockey/Brent, of Everett, provides planning, land use, community planning and site design services.
Raymond Yancey of FWL Architects, Portland, has become a registered architect, licensed in Oregon. Active in Habitat for Humanity, Yancey has contributed design counsel and architectural drawings for five low-income homes. He was also project manager for the administration building and expansion of medical and dental facilities of the Southeast Alaska regional health clinic in Juneau.
David Clinkston has been promoted to senior associate at Hewitt Isley. He joined the firm three years ago, and is currently project architect for the Edmonds and Bainbridge Island overhead passenger loading ferry terminals. Michael R. Anderson has also been named a senior associate. His 22 years of professional experience in the Seattle area has emphasized urban housing. He is currently project architect for Harbor Steps East. Robert S. Berman, a new associate, is an accredited planner with over five years of experience. He managed master planning and facility improvements for the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal. Douglas R. Snider, also a new associate, has over 20 years of landscape architecture and urban design experience. He is currently project landscape architect for streetscapes, pedestrian plazas, and open spaces for Redmond Town Center. Michael R. Moosmann, now an associate, joined the firm three years ago as information systems manager. His background is in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction.
Christopher L. Thompson has been made regional manager and senior associate for Degenkolb Engineers, managing the new Portland office for the firm. Thompson joined Degenkolb in 1996 and has seven years of structural engineering experience in the Portland area, including seismic retrofit and renovation of existing structures for health care, university, corporate and municipal clients. Degenkolb also has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and currently has 71 full-time employees. Jeffrey R. Soulages, who joined Degenkolb in 1990, now serves as an associate on projects in the Portland office. His structural engineering experience includes the new design and post-earthquake repair at the Veterans Administration Sepulveda campus and the design of a new medical office building for Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco. He served as editor of the Vision 2000 report "Performance Based Seismic Engineering of Buildings," produced by the Structural Engineers Association of California. Stacy J. Bartoletti joined Degenkolb in 1993 and now serves as a design engineer in the Portland office. Bartoletti's experience includes General Services Administration seismic hazard evaluations at various locations; various seismic upgrades for the state of California; and a seismic evaluation, inspection and upgrade program for Hewlett-Packard. Eric D. Thomas recently joined Degenkolb and serves as a design engineer on projects in the Portland office. He has experience in designing new facilities and the seismic renovation of existing facilities for health care, municipal, corporate, and university clients. John H. Thomsen IV joined Degenkolb in 1995 and serves as a designer in the Portland office. His experience includes university building seismic studies and the seismic program for Hewlett-Packard. David A. Basurto recently joined the Portland office of Degenkolb Engineers as a senior CAD specialist. Paige C. Jackson has joined Degenkolb Engineers in Portland as office manager.
