NBBJ senior associate Mike Miller has been named national director of senior housing and long term care for the firm. He joined the firm in 1985. In the past two years, NBBJ has designed and overseen construction of 13 senior housing projects for a total of 1,377 living units. They include a 440-unit senior community built on a 30-acre site in Framingham, Mass.
Guy Peckham has been promoted to associate at Baylis Brand Wagner Architects. Since joining the firm in 1995, he has focused on multi-family and single-family residences.
BOORA Architects, Inc. has promoted Kevin Johnson to principal in the firm. Since Johnson joined BOORA in 1981, he has managed complex commercial, educational, cultural and entertainment projects -- including NikeTowns throughout the U.S. and the award-winning Theatre on the Square in Tacoma.
Julie Shaw has joined Otak as a senior planner. She has over 12 years of professional experience in planning and landscape architecture. Previously, she was a senior planner for the City of Mukilteo, where she directed a downtown waterfront urban design study. Ann Turner has joined the firm as a project assistant. She was previously with Cornerstone Architecture and the Schemmer Associates. Kirk Ghio and Jack Seeds have joined Otak as survey technicians. Ghio was previously with Iverson Surveying in Friday Harbor. Seeds was with GeoDimensions. Chris Tietje is a new field survey technician for Otak. He was previously with David Evans and Associates. Andy Matzdorf will be working in the landscape and planning department of Otak's Kirkland office for one year as part of an internship program through Purdue University. Tammy McDonald has joined Otak's Puget Sound office as a business services manager. She was previously with the firm's corporate office in Oregon.
Charlotte Patterson has been promoted to associate at JPC, Inc. Architecture of Redmond. Most recently, she was project manager for Boeing Business Jets Flight Center at Boeing Field. She was also the project manager for the AT&T Wireless Services Corporate Campus in Redmond and AT&T retail customer service centers. John Swolgaard has joined JPC as a project manager with 26 years of experience in energy efficient design, zoning laws and building codes. He has managed a wide range of projects, including the U.S. Bank Centre, Harbor Steps and Nordstrom in Seattle and Anchorage.
Richard Lee has joined the Holaday-Parks, Inc. engineering team, where he is assigned to the Sunset Ridge Building II design team. A graduate of Oregon State University, he has set up manufacturing facilities in three different cities in China.
Clayton Daspit, Anjali Grant and Teresa Gebaroff have joined the staff of Walter Schacht Architects (WSA). Daspit is a graduate of Tulane University School of Architecture, and has worked for the last five years on large-scale educational and commercial projects with LMN. At WSA, he is project manager on planning and design projects for the Tacoma Art Museum, the African American Heritage Museum and the Burke Museum. Grant has worked for the past two years for Olson Sundberg Architects and Streeter & Associates. At WSA, she is working on the construction phase of the Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue and planning for the Temple Beth Am in Seattle. Teresa Gebaroff was office manager of Cardwell/Thomas & Associates for the past five years. At WSA, she acts as business manager and marketing coordinator.
Ivan W. "Ike" Stead, a control system engineer and president of S & B/Stead & Associates of Bellevue, was presented with the George Warren Fuller Award by the American Water Works Association for his service in the water supply field. His firm has designed and furnished over 150 significant water telemetry systems.
Six Degrees, a kitchen and bar located at 7900 E. Green Lake Dr. N., will open for business July 29. Executive Chef Brian Poor and Director of Operations Rod Pearson of Belltown Corporation will oversee this new "interactive neighborhood dining concept." The restaurant was designed by the architectural team of Arellano/Christofides (whose other hospitality designs include Flying Fish, El Gaucho and Vina). Six Degrees will seat 120 people in 3,200 square feet of space. The Belltown Corporation plans to open a Six Degrees in Kirkland this winter.
