Columbia Forge

Douglas W. McMullin has been appointed general manager of Columbia Forge and Machine Works, a Portland-based steel plant. McMullin has worked as the manufacturing engineer at Columbia Forge since 1981.

Poetica Design

Graphic designer Barbara Hartinger has opened her own studio, Poetica Design, in the Greenlake-Wallingford area. Hartinger was previously with The Rockey Co. Design Group and G-Force in Seattle.

Mackie Designs

Mackie Designs Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, affordable professional audio systems based in Woodinville, has appointed Gregg Perry to director of advertising and public relations. Perry will be reponsible for all aspects of the advertising direction and public relations communications. Perry formerly worked as marketing services manager for Lexicon Inc. Rick Bos was recently appoined product manager, and will be responsible for the analog mixer, speaker and power amp groups. Bos formerly served as product manager for Peavey Electronics.

Bassetti

Lorne McConachie has been appointed president of Bassetti Architects, and Richard Metler principal-of-counsel. They are joined by two new principals, Rick Huxley and Marilyn Brockman. The 51-year-old firm specializes in educational, cultural, historic and municipal buildings as well as multi-family housing. Huxley's recent design work at Bassetti includes WaLeHut Indian School on the Nisqually River, Madison Park Condominiums and Kokanee Elementary School in Woodinville. Brockman has extensive historic preservation experience and currently manages renovations at the Bertchi School on Capitol Hill and Mary Gates Hall at the University of Washington. She is also managing construction of a children's museum, a police station and parks department offices in Snohomish.

R.W.Beck

Russ Stepp has joined R.W. Beck as the firm's national director of water and environmental services. Most recently he was regional business manager for water at CH2M Hill, where he was responsible for work in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. He will handle project delivery, business development, technology and staff management in R.W. Beck's rapidly expanding water/wastewater, solid waste and environmental business.

HDR

Eric Bergstrom has joined HDR Engineering, Inc., as a project engineer. He was previously a project manager for R.W. Beck, Inc., managing wastewater projects.

Berger/ABAM

Mary Do has joined Berger/ABAM Engineers Inc. as a civil engineer. She specializes in hydraulic engineering and civil design related to transportation facilities projects.

Glumac

Richard C. Gerber has been named the fourth partner at Glumac International in Portland. He leaves Pittsburgh, where he has had a long engineering career with the Peter F. Loftus division of Eichley Engineers specializing in health care facilities and higher education. He is currently project manager for the Veterans Administration Cancer Research Center and the Doernbecher Children's Hospital building. Leslie J. Franken was promoted to associate with the firm. She joined the firm in 1986 as accounting and financial manager. Jerry M. Yudelson has joined Glumac as director of business development. He was previously CEO of World Envirotech Services & Technologies, Inc., and has served as vice president of sales and marketing for two national public companies. Sara J. Titus has joined the office as marketing coordinator. She was previously with Boyd Coffee Company.

DLR/John Graham

DLR/John Graham Associates has added several new members to the staff. Electrical engineer Allan Robertson is working on Boeing's 4-81 Building in Renton and on a women's prison intake center in Oregon. Deborah Conway has also joined the electrical engineering department and is working on two school projects. Steven Gray, a recent civil engineering graduate, will assist in as-built drawings for the Boeing Renton project and in a school remodel. Structural engineers Louis (Bill) Heaton and Michael Chamberlain have joined the structural department, and mechanical engineers Laurence Nicholson and Terry Christian have also joined the firm. Uilani Smith-Munoz has joined DLR/John Graham Associates as project administrator for the National Housing Authority. Christa Moore has joined the accounting department, and Monica Lyon and Alfredo Africa have been hired as CAD technicians.

FFA

Fletcher Farr Ayotte (FFA) of Portland has promoted Bob Boileau and Don Arambula to the level of associate principal. Phil Rude has been promoted to associate. Boileau is a project architect for housing and mixed use projects, and is currently at work on Portland area live-work townhouses and a mixed use plan for the North Macadam District. Arambula serves as the firm's senior urban designer. Among his projects is the Oregon City Regional Center Development Plan. Rude is project manager for the Portland International Airport Parking Garage Expansion and for district-wide seismic and safety upgrades for Portland Public Schools.

Zervas

Sean Hegstad, a recent graduate of Washington State University, has joined Zervas Group Architects of Bellingham as an architecture intern. Tirzah Woods has joined the firm as an interior designer. A graduate of Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, she has worked in various firms in Wisconsin.

Sienna

Sienna Architecture Company of Portland has hired Alicia DeLashmutt as interiors director. A graduate of Montana State University, she has completed interior design projects for Nike, Wells Fargo, and First Interstate Bank. Natalie Garner has joined the interiors group as a designer. Her project experience includes Columbia Gorge Brewing Company and Nagel Distributors. Nikola Boscanin joins the firm's mixed-use group with a bachelor's degree in architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Bergen Swanson also joins the mixed-use group as a graduate of the University of Oregon.
