Lease Crutcher Lewis has added Debbie Davis as a project engineer in its Special Projects Division and Michael Panek as a project engineer for its King Street Center job. The company also announced Jay McClelland, a former carpenter who injured his back, has become a project engineer at the Meadowdale High School job in Edmonds. McClelland studied for his new role in the Associated General Contractors' yearlong Return to Work program, which is designed to retrain injured workers for less-physical roles in technical/leadership positions in construction.
Brent Guinn has been named employee of the year at McKinstry Company. Guinn, a 17-year veteran of McKinstry, is executive vice president of engineered sales. He holds a construction management degree from Washington State University.
PORTLAND -- Larry Durkin has joined the Portland office of Kennedy/Jenks Consultants as an associate engineer. At Kennedy/Jenks, Durkin will plan, design and manage remediation, water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial and facilities engineering projects. He also will help the company develop its client base. He has more than seven years experience as an environmental consultant in Oregon and Southwest Washington, where he's designed and constructed groundwater extraction, treatment and discharge systems for municipal and industrial clients. Durkin is licensed by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for soil matrix cleanup, installation and decommissioning of underground storage tanks. He's also licensed by the Washington Department of Ecology as a site assessment supervisor. Kennedy/Jenks Consultants is a full-service environmental consulting firm with 14 offices throughout the Western United States.

Kip Tokuda has been appointed the program coordinator for the King County Jobs Initiative. Tokuda will coordinate the intake, training, job placement and retention, and support services for low-income people in the initial focus area. Tokuda has served as the caucus lead on welfare reform as a state representative in the Washington State Legislature. The Jobs Initiative is a pilot project designed to train, place and retain low-income people in livable-wage jobs.

GLY Construction has hired Horst Coers as a project manager and Todd Karr as a project engineer. Horst has 20 years of experience in the construction industry and holds an electrical engineering degree from Bochum University in Germany. He is providing preconstruction services for a Microsoft campus project. Karr is providing engineering services to Northstream Development's Central Way Plaza office building in Kirkland.
Lease Crutcher Lewis recently hired and promoted several employees. For the company's largest job, the Microsoft Troon Campus in Redmond, it added Jim Harteau as a field superintendent, Pat Thompson as safety coordinator and Linda Chou as a project engineer. LCL also hired Diane Grauer as a project engineer for the enlargement and renovation of the former City Light Building in Seattle. In the company's Construction Management Division, it hired Mark Humphreys as a project engineer.
Sigurdur M. Gardarsson has joined West Consultants, Incl. as a hydraulic Engineer, and will work in the Bellevue office. He is presently working on an upper Mississippi and Illinois Waterways cumulative effects study for a Corps of Engineers navigation project.
David Evans and Associates (DEA) has added four new members to the staff. Jim Miller is a senior planner in the Everett office, providing development feasibility analyses, site planning and application services for developments and subdivisions. Jack Molver is a senior civil engineer in the Everett office, specializing in land development permitting and construction plans. Beverly Winfrey has joined the right-of-way and real estate services group in the Bellevue office. She has had six years of experience with the City of Seattle's open space acquisition program. Other additions to the DEA staff include Laura Techico, an environmental planner with experienced in permitting and compliance.
