Doghouse Productions, a Seattle-based web design and consulting firm, has agreed to acquire key assets of the web design and consulting firm Syncretic Media, Inc., and hire Syncretic personnel.
Greg Riker has joined the board of directors for Woodinville-based Mackie Designs Inc. Riker formerly served as director of multimedia development for Microsoft and founded the Advanced Consumer Technology Group. Mackie Designs is a manufacturer and marketer of professional audio systems.
Intravision, a Seattle public relations/advertising firm specializing in promotions, graphic design and public presentations, has added a division dedicated to community development and neighborhood enhancement. Among the services Intravision provides are empirical survey techniques, technology consulting, public speaking training, land management consulting and training for people responsible for developing community support through public presentations and copy writing.
Thomas Gerard, Sam Miller and Christopher Osolin have been promoted to associates at Bumgardner. Gerard, who joined the firm in 1980, has developed a specialty in theaters and is currently at work on the Knutzen Family Theatre at Duma Bay Centre, Intiman Theatre, and Elderhealth Northwest. Miller began working at Bumgardner in 1990. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Stanford University and a masters degree in architecture from the University of Washington. After a year in the Peace Corps in the Solomon Island, he returned to Bumgardner in 1996 and is currently working on Gold Mountain Golf Clubhouse, Meadow Springs Country Club Clubhouse, a conference center and inn at McCormick Woods and various renovation projects for the University of Washington. Osolin, who joined the firm in 1993, had a major role in the design of the building complex at Port Gardner Landing in Everett. He is now completing the Westview Building there, and is also working on the conference center and inn at McCormick Woods.
Bob Carothers has joined the Portland office of Waterleaf Architecture & Interiors as a project manager and technical advisor. He is currently working on the firm's projects with Culver City Transit Facility in California, Pierce Transit and Regional Transit Authority in Washington. Rachel Silbert has joined the office as a designer and is now assisting in the Telegram Building Renovation, Children's Village Day School and Electrical Construction Company's Office Expansion projects. Silbert, a graduate of Harvard University, is also responsible for compiling a list of environmentally responsible materials for the firm.
Katy Potts has joined Entranco as business development manager. Prior to joining Entranco, Potts worked for th Garry Struthers Associates, Inc. where she served as marketing director for four years and for URS, where she worked for two years in the Seattle office after working for 11 years on the URS Denver office. Debra Seeman has joined Entranco's Portland office as a civil engineer for site development projects. She is ar work on the Allen Street Bridge replacement project for the City of Kelso.

Keith Herbert has been named president of Process Combustion Corp. Herbert will direct worldwide business aspects of the company's custom-engineered pollution control and thermal oxidation systems. Herbert was formerly vice president.
BELLINGHAM -- Duke Engineering & Services Inc. (DE&S) has signed a letter of intent to acquire Cascades Environmental Services Inc. (CES), a Bellingham environmental consulting firm that specializes in hydropower, water resources, mining and forestry. "This was a friendly and very much of a cooperative strategic acquisition," said Kent Doughty, one of CES' four principals. "All of our current employees will remain in place, and we may experience some growth." CES has 12 full-time employees and another 10 temporary, seasonal employees, Doughty said. CES' name will officially change to DE&S on July 1. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. In addition to the new Bellingham office, DE&S' Hydropower and Water Resources business unit operates from offices in Bothell, Sacramento, Calif., Charlotte, N.C., and Portland, Maine. DE&S is an independently-operated affiliate of Duke Energy. DE&S has 3,000 employees who work in 33 U.S. offices and 15 international offices. The company provides engineering, regulatory and environmental consulting services to hydropower and other clients. Doughty said CES has served as a subconsultant to DE&S on several projects. John Devine, DE&S' vice president of Hydropower and Water Resources, said: "Joining forces with CES would strengthen our resources in the western U.S., particularly in the natural resources and environmental areas."
PORTLAND -- Martha S. Knowlton has been named to Kennedy/Jenks Consultants' board of directors. She joins existing board members Nathan A. Graves, Douglas B. Henderson, David D. Kennedy, Edward C. Kistner, Ira S. Rackley, John H. Rayner, Lynn M. Takaichi, Donald R. Weiden and John M. Stedman. Knowlton is an environmental consultant with more than 18 years of experience working for industrial clients. During her 11 years with Kennedy/Jenks, she has directed environmental assessments, investigations and cleanups of industrial properties throughout the western United States. Her area of expertise is providing environmental services to the wood-products industry. Knowlton is a vice president at Kennedy/Jenks and manager of the company's Portland office.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Mark Schindler has joined Parametrix Alaska as manager of the company's oil and gas industry consulting group in Anchorage. Formerly with Arco Alaska Inc., Schindler has nearly 20 years of experience in land management, permitting and government and native relations. He was director of permitting and compliance for the Alpine Development Project, one of Arco's major oil and gas discoveries. Schindler previously led negotiations which shaped development of Arco's Prudhoe Bay and Kuparuk units, the two largest oil and gas fields in North America. Since his arrival at Parametrix, Schindler has been providing strategic planning, regulatory compliance and litigation support to Arco for the Alpine Development Project. Parametrix Alaska's other clients include BP Oil Shipping Co. USA, SeaRiver Maritime Inc., Tesoro Alaska Petroleum Co. and Chevron Shipping Co. Parametrix Alaska is a unit of Parametrix Inc., an environmental and engineering consulting firm with 300 employees in Kirkland, Sumner, Bremerton, Portland, Houston and Sydney, Australia.
