DPR Construction has hired Jamie Forsythe to lead its healthcare construction team in Portland. Forsythe has 23 years of experience as an architect and owner's representative, including a 15-year career at Kaiser Permanente. She is an architectural graduate of the University of Illinois.

Marten & Brown

Marten & Brown, a Seattle-based environmental law firm, has elected Stephen T. Parkinson to the partnership and added Alexandra K. Smith and Lorna Luebbe as associates. Parkinson is an environmental litigator specializing in Superfund cost recovery, natural resource damages, environmental class actions and insurance coverage disputes. Smith formerly practiced at Graham & James/Riddell Williams. Luebbe worked before law school as a hydrogeologist and project manager for an environmental consulting firm.

Shannon & Wilson

Five senior staff people at Shannon & Wilson have been promoted to the level of vice president. Gerard Buechel has been with Shannon & Wilson for more than 19 years. Since joining the firm he has been involved in geotechnical studies for buildings, railways, slide stabilizations, mine facilities, pavements and tunnels. Between 1990 and 1998, he was manager of the Boston office of Shannon & Wilson, where he supervised the Central Artery and Third Harbor Tunnel projects. He returned to the Seattle office to assist on the firm's Sound Transit projects. Dee Burrie is Shannon & Wilson's branch manager in the Tri-Cities, an office which he established in 1992. He has expanded the office and added a materials laboratory. He has completed many projects on the Hanford Reservation. Paul Godlewski has been with the firm for 20 years, working in almost every specialty group in the company. He has most recently been a project manager in the railroad services group, and is now project manager for geotechnical engineering on the Sound Transit rail project. Thomas Gurtowski joined Shannon & Wilson in 1974, and has been a consultant on almost every major excavation in Seattle. His projects include the Washington State Convention & Trade Center and its future expansion, the U.S. Courthouse, Key Arena, the New Pacific Northwest Baseball Park and the Seattle Seahawks Stadium. William Laprade, manager of the Engineering Geology Group at Shannon & Wilson, joined the firm in 1973. He has published a definitive work on local geology, and is currently project manager for the City of Seattle landslide study and chief geologist for the Sound Transit light rail project.

Hewitt Isley

Douglas R. Snider has been promoted to the level of senior associate with Hewitt Isley. He has over 20 years of experiencein landscape architecture, site planning, urban design, master planning and environmental assessment. His projects include planning for Redmond Town Center and Redmond Town Center mixed-use housing. Mark J. Wettstone has been named an associate with the firm. He specializes in residential design and large scale commerial, multi-family housing and retail projects. He is the designer of 106th Place Condominiums in Bellevue and a student housing project near the University of Washington. Dana L. Webber is also a new associate with Hewitt Isley. He was recently involved in the design of Harbor Steps North, the Edmonds interim overhead loading facilty at the Edmonds Ferry Terminal, and the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal facilities plan. Robert L. Ohm II, another newly appointed associate, has over 20 years of experiences as a project manager. His experience includes airports, convention centers, commercial projects, high-tech facilites, conference facilities and multi-family housing. He is the project architect on Harebor Steps North, a 300-unit apartment complex just north of Harbor Steps East in downtown Seattle. Lyle D. Grant, also an associate, has experience in mixed, use, residential, transportation, and recreational facilites and has degrees in both archtiecture and landscape architecture. He is project architect and designer for the preliminary design of the Tukwila and Sea Tac segments of Sound Transit LINK Light Rail Service. Jeffrey J. Benesi, associate, has a background in landscape architecture, land use planning, urban design, and environmental analysis. He has been involved in the University of Washington Campus master plan and the City of Bellevue pedestrian corridor design guidelines. Karen Bean, associate, recently joined Hewitt Isley as director of marketing.

BOORA

BOORA Architect, Inc. has promoted Pat Harrington to managing principal, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the 90-person firm. Harrington's first encounter with BOORA was in 1982, when he was the owner's representative and administrator for Portland's $42 million performing arts center project. He joined BOORA in 1990 as an associate, and became principal and director of marketing in 1992. He will continue dircting marketing and business development efforts and serve as a consultant on issues related to cultural and performing arts facilities. Thomas Bauer has joined BOORA as an associate, and is the project manager for a master plan for Linfield College and a $19 million addition and remodel to the Intramural Acitivites Building at the University of Washington. He was recently a principal of Oz Architecture in Denver, and has worked as a project architect with Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer and Skidmore Owings and Merrill. Paul Kinley has joined the firm as a project designer. He is currently working with the project team for the $42 millino Center for the Arts at University of California, Davis. He was previousluy with Ellerbe Becket and Frank O. Gehry.

Sienna

George Schoenleber has retired as company president and principal at Sienna Architecture Company in Portland. He will continue to work with te firm in a consultant capacity. Schoenleber has been with Sienna for 31 years, many of which as president of the board. Remaining board members include principals Gary Reddick, chairman; Mike Powers, newly elected president; Warren Tyler, secretary; Andy Jacobson, Terry Krause and Jeff Lamb.

W&H Pacific

Leslie Lloyd has joined the Bellevue office of W&H Pacific as a senior project manager, specializing in pre-development services such as strategic planning, community relations, regulatory compliance, policy analysis, and negotiating entitlements. She was most recently development manager for Quadrant Corporation in Bellevue, and serves as vice chair of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.

Peterson

Jon W. Nelson has joined Peterson Consulting Engineers as a senior civil engineer responsible for corporate and private sector projects. Recent projects include Greenbrier Pointe, Brenna's Bluff, and the Heritage House assisted living project. Nicole E. McWhirter has joined the firm as a design engineer for residential and commercial projects. Recent projects include Piano Ranch PUD, Falls Crossing mixed use plan and the Vashon United Methodist Church Expansion.
