Magna Design Inc.

Erland F. Russell has joined Magna Design Inc., a Lynnwood-based designer and manufacturer of office furniture systems, as vice president of manufacturing.

Opus Northwest

Opus Northwest has made some personnel changes. Dave Kessler and John Gordon have been promoted to senior project managers and Harvey Nelson has been hired as a senior project manager. Kessler, a former project manager, is responsible for overseeing the development and construction of office and industrial projects in the Puget Sound area. He also is overseeing design and feasibility of new projects under development. Gordon, also a former project manager, is now responsible for the company's projects in the south Puget Sound region. He is in charge of Emerald Corporate Park and Fife Landing. Nelson is overseeing construction of the Sammamish ParkPlace project being built for Vulcan Northwest in Issaquah.

Valley Electric

Valley Electric has promoted Darlene Zook as the Seattle office's construction manager. In her new role, Zook will oversee construction projects within the Metro Seattle and Puget Sound regions. She has 22 years of experience in the construction industry, including estimating, project management and pre-construction consultation. The company also announced it has hired Jim Long as electrical services specialist and Gary Whitt as senior project engineer. Long has 38 years of experience in the electrical construction industry, including estimating and project management. Whitt has 33 years of electrical experience, including a background in electrical consulting.

Nichols Brothers Boat Builders

The fourth of six tractor tugs built for operation by Crowley Marine Services was recently delivered to the company in Seattle. The final two vessels are under construction by Nichols Brothers Boat Builders Inc. for Vessel Management Services Inc., a Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary. The vessels were designed and engineered by Guido Perla & Associates Inc..

Olson Sundberg

Brett Baba and Robert Jakubik have been named associates at Olson Sundberg Architects. Baba served as project manager on the award-winning Frye Art Museum and on the Wright Art Gallery, both in Seattle. He is currently working on the Mission Hill Winery in Kelowna, British Columbia. He joined the firm in 1993. Jakubik's recent work includes the new School for Law for Seattle University, scheduled to open in 1999, the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, and the Learning Resource Center at Whatcom Community College. He is currently working on the $4.5 million Student Center at Whatcom Community College. Jakubik has been with the firm since 1992.

EDAW

Robert N. Shrosbree has been promoted to principal with EDAW, Inc. Shrosbree joined the firm in 1992 and has specialized in master planning for corporate, campus, university and institutional facilities. Current projects include the 1,000-acre Genie Corporation manufacturing facility in Moses Lake; Microsoft South Campus in Mountain View, Calif.; the Rebok One World Headquarters in Canton, Mass.; the Sonoma County Day School campus in Santa Rosa, Calif.; and the East Capitol Campus Plaza in Olympia. Joseph C. Cloud has been promoted to senior associate at EDAW. He is a landscape architect and environmental planner and currently project manager for the City of Lakewood comprehensive plan, the Puget Sound regional land use plan for the U.S. Navy and the Sand Point/Magnuson Park infrastructure redevelopment project. Mark Brands has rejoined the Seattle office as an associate after spending three years in EDAW's Sydney, Australia office where he was landscape project manager for the Olympic Village for the Sydney 2000 games. He also worked on new town developments in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. His current projects include inner-city redevelopment in the False Creek area of Vancouver, B.C. Bradley A. Smith has been promoted to associate at EDAW. A landscape architect, he specializes in the management of large projects involving the integration of digital information. He is project manager for the East Capitol Campus Plaza repairs in Olympia. Kathy Eitner Kirby has been promoted to associate at EDAW. She is currently involved in landscape design for the Reebok One World Headquarters, the Microsoft South Campus; the Sonoma Country Day School and the OB2 vertical circulation study at the East Capitol Campus in Olympia. Ed Mah has also been promoted to associate. He is currently working on site planning, irrigation design, wetland restoration and construction administration for the Microsoft, Reebok and Sand Point projects. Komal Bhatia Dewan, who transferred to the Seattle office from Irvine, Calif., has been promoted to associate. She is assisting on the Regional Shore Infrastructure Plan for the U.S. Navy, the E&H Superblock and the Sand Point project. Mike Usen, a planner, has joined the firm as an associate. He is currently assisting in the Lakewood and Genie Corporation projects and on resource management plans for the Bureau of Reclamation. Ron Pike has joined the firm as a planner and network communications specialist. He has expertise in comprehensive plan development, environmental impact analysis and airport compatibility planning.

JWM&A

Trent J. Lougheed and Steve M. Willie have been named stockholders with Jerome W. Morrissette & Associates Inc. of Olympia and Shelton. Lougheed worked as a traffic and pavement research specialist in Nevada before joining the firm in 1996. Willie, a civil engineer, has 12 years of experience in site design services for public agencies and private firms.

Seattle Coffee

Seattle Coffee Co., a subsidiary of Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises, announced revenue growth will reach 31.1 percent for calendar year 1998, with total revenues topping $67 million. Its two brands, Seattle's Best Coffee and Torrefazione Italia, experienced more than 30 percent growth in the past three years. The company has introduced a new design for its Seattle's Best Coffee Cafes concept, which will be instituted in all new cafes and renovations.

International Antique and Art Importers

Cheryl Uhrmacher recently joined the staff of International Antique and Art Importers as design consultant of Ming's asian gallery in Bellevue.
