Entranco

D. Kennett Forssen has joined the Bellevue office of Entranco as director of ports and airports. He has 30 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, and co-founded KPFF Consulting Engineers. Forssen has provided structural design for 14 hotels throughout the U.S. and hundreds of commercial and industrial structures in addition to port berthing structures and airfield improvement designs.

Shannon & Wilson

Scott W. Gaulke has been promoted to group leader for the private sector hazardous waste group. He has more than 16 years experience as a hydrologist. Steven L. Gerken has joined Shannon & Wilson as an associate and leader of the engineering services group. He has been technical manager for the design of remedial projects superfund projects in four states, and is now designing the cap for a landfill in Kodiak, Alaska. Kathleen Robertson has been promoted to associate in the railroad and underground services group. She is currently managing a 19-acre expansion project for an existing landfill in Douglas County, Ore. Christopher A. Robertson has been promoted to associate, with 18 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and geology. Current projects include managing design and construction for 2400 feet of pipejacking to replace an old stormwater pipeline. Daniel E. Semanskee has joined the firm as a senior associate and chief financial officer. He has served as an external accountant and consultant for several years.

Mahlum

Mahlum Architects has named two new principals: Diane Shiner and Gerald "Butch" Reifert. Portland-based Shiner, a member of the firm since 1983, has a background in healthcare and education projects and has specialized in programming and long-range planning. Recent projects include master planning of the new campus for Clatsop Community College. Reifert, who joined the firm in 1983, works in the Seattle office and specializes in educational, residential and healthcare design. Recent projects include master planning for the rehabilitation of Coe Elementary School in Seattle and modernization and upgrades at 12 elementary schools in Edmonds.

Abacus

Ronald K. Eliason has joined Abacus Engineers Systems as a mechanical engineer. He has designed heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for projects ranging from small laboratories to a 1.9 million-square-foot highbay expansion for Boeing. Erik S. Stearns has been promoted to the level of associate at Abacus. Recent projects include Harbor Steps North, Carpenter's Tower, Redmond Town Center and the Bell Street Cruise Terminal.

HDR

Paul K. Wetherbee has transferred to the Seattle office of HDR Engineering as a hydrogeologist. He has been with the firm as a hydrologist since 1997, and transferred from the Anchorage office. HDR has hired Steven K. Aisaka as section manager for the company's bridge division. In addition to a master's degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University, Aisaka holds a juris doctor degree from Seattle University Law School and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association. He has designed bridge, rapid transit, aviation building, waterfront and tunneling projects. Kurt W. Reichelt has joined the firm as a senior project manager for the company's railroad group. Prior to joining HDR, Reichelt was employed by TranSystems Corporation Consultants as a rail leader for the West Coast operation and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. His project experience includes the Seattle International Gateway and the Intermodal Facilities Chicago Site Comparison with BNSF. He has worked with both the City of Seattle and Port of Seattle on the Duwamish Rail Strategy project.

DCI

Troy E. Bean has been promoted to principal at D'Amato Conversano, Inc. He joined the firm in 1989 as a project engineer. His current projects include the Island County Criminal Justice Center in Coupeville, sound Urological Associates Clinic in Edmonds and Intracorp's Business Park in Fife. Mark Moorleghen has joined the staff as project manager in the Bellevue office. Moorleghen's design experience includes four years in fast-track design-build projects. He is credited with the design of the Quartz Crucible Plant for semiconductor manufacturing in Camas, the Renton Treatment Plant III-C, and the Boiler No. 4 replacement at the University of Washington. Projects he is currently managing include Fountain Plaza, a mixed-use mid-rise and Providence Point, a four-story senior condominium. Grant Buckingham has been promoted to project manager. Recent projects include the Woodinville Retail Complex and the Northshore Utility District project in Bothell. He is currently managing the six-story Civica Office Commons in Bellevue, and the Villa Firenze Condominiums, an eight-story office tower also in Bellevue. Nick Bossoff has been promoted to associate. He joined the firm in 1997 as project manager as was promoted to technical director of the civil engineering division last year. He has most recently managed the Kirkland Gateway office building, Willina Ranch Apartments, and Fountain Plaza mixed-use building. Gregory L. True has joined the Bellevue office as a project manager. Among his current projects are Berger & Sons Jewelers in Los Vegas, shoring for Fountain Plaza, and Briarwood Shopping Center in Renton.

Miller/Hull

Sian Roberts has been promoted to associate with Miller/Hull. She joined the firm in 1993, and is currently project manager for the 76,000-square-foot King County Library System Service Center in Issaquah and the 10,000-square-foot University of Washington Tacoma Campus Library Addition. Susan Kelly has been promoted to the level of associate with Miller/Hull. She is the firm's marketing director, and joined the firm in 1987.

Art Anderson

Paul Witherspoon has joined the Bremerton office of Art Anderson Associates as a construction manager. He was hired specifically to work on a current construction management contract with the General Services Administration. He has been working for 12 years in construction management in California and Hawaii.

ESM

Steve T. Lee of ESM Consulting Engineers recently passed the engineering exam and became a licensed engineer. He joined the firm last year. Fred Brown was recently promoted to associate with the firm. Steve Byers has joined the firm as a construction manager. Phil Kitzes has joined the land planning division of ESM as a senior planner. Fred S. Wilhelm Jr. has joined the land planning division as a senior planner. Rick Foxworthy joins the firm as director of field survey.

CivilTech

Ellen Bancroft has joined CivilTech Corporation of Bellevue as marketing manager. Prior to joining the firm, she was proposal manager and editor with CH2M Hill in Bellevue.

Design Food Management

Skip Buchanan, president and CEO of Redmond-based Design Food Management, announced that The Wood Co., a national food service management organization headquartered in Allentown, Penn., has acquired the company. The Wood Co. provides dining services to corporate locations, schools, hospitals and resident communities. Design Food Management has been involved in health care and corporate dining, with over 30 accounts in the West.
