Windermere Real Estate

Lee Matthews, an associate broker with Windermere East in Bellevue, has been awarded the Seniors Real Estate Specialist professional designation by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council. Specialists are trained to advise seniors on real estate matters. The council, of Murphys, Calif., tracks special issues and needs of senior citizen property owners and provides education to Realtors whose professional specialty is serving the senior market. Rene Stern has joined the Windermere Queen Anne office as a sales associate. She previously worked for John L. Scott Real Estate in Seattle.

Foushee & Associates

Bellevue contractor Foushee & Associates has promoted Paul Santulli to project manager. Santulli joined the company last year as a project engineer. He graduated from Central Washington University with a bachelor's degree in construction management.

Corps of Engineers

Brig. Gen. Carl A. Strock has assumed command of the Northwestern Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Portland. Strock will direct all corps water resource activities, military construction and environmental restoration programs in 14 states. He was previously assigned as commander and division engineer of the corps' Pacific Ocean Division at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

Arai/Jackson

Arai/Jackson Architects and Planners in Seattle has promoted several employees to the position of principal. Bruce Ellison, one of the recently promoted principals, has been with Arai/Jackson for 15 years where he has spent the last five years as a senior associate. Ellison is project architect for the Tacoma Dome Multi-modal Station and SeaTac's City Hall. Rich Murakami has been with the firm for 13 years, working as an associate for the last two years. His emphasis has been on municipal projects, including the recently completed Des Moines City Hall expansion and renovation. Frank Silkwood has been with the firm for one year and was formerly with the architectural firm TRA in Seattle. Silkwood is project architect on the Seattle Tacoma International Airport STS project and the Seattle Ferry Terminal, Colman Dock Expansion. Dave Tomber has also recently been promoted to principal at Arai/Jackson. Tomber has been with the firm for four years where he has spent the last two as an associate. Prior to working for the firm, he was employed with Gensler Architects in Los Angeles. He is working on multiple projects for the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. Established in Seattle in 1970, Arai/Jackson Architects & Planners provides architectural design services, urban planning and design, interior space planning and design and construction management. The firm specializes in institutional and civic projects.

Mulvanny Architects

Alex Kimball has joined Mulvanny Architects in Bellevue. Prior to joining Mulvanny, Kimball operated his own architectural firm in Bainbridge Island for 17 years. Kimball has more than 30 years of experience in the design, development and construction of projects ranging from single-family homes to commercial and retail facilities. He has been involved in the design of more than 100 commercial and mixed-use building renovation projects, including: Bellevue Square; the Factoria Mall in Bellevue, Uwajimaya Village in Seattle's International District; and the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas. He is a registered architect in Washington and California. Mulvanny Architects is the 25th largest full-service architecture firm in the United States.

Kennedy/Jenks

Stuart Childs has joined the Portland office of Kennedy Jenks Consultants as a senior client manager. Childs is an unsaturated zone specialist, with more than 20 years of academic and consulting experience. He was a research professor at Oregon State University for 10 years. His recent projects include work on the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and waste discharge permitting for food processing facilities in Oregon and Washington. He received his doctorate in soil science from Washington State University. Headquartered in San Francisco, Kennedy/Jenks offers consulting services in water quality, water and wastewater systems, water reclamation, flood control, storm drainage and solid and hazardous waste investigation and remediation.

GeoEngineers-Gifford

Mark Storey has joined the Spokane office of GeoEngineers-Gifford as a senior geotechnical engineer. The newly created firm is the result of GeoEngineers' recent acquisition of Gifford Consultants in Spokane. Storey, a professional engineer with 14 years of experience in the consulting industry, will be responsible for developing and managing construction materials, testing and inspection services. He will also perform geotechnical engineering studies for a variety of private and public sector projects. He was formerly the office manager for Strata Inc. in Spokane. Based in Redmond, GeoEngineers is a 180-person firm offering geotechnical, environmental, geologic, ground water, GIS and Endangered Species Act consulting services. Its other office locations include Anchorage, Bellingham, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma and Portland.

Mayes Testing Engineers

Mayes Testing Engineers, Inc., the Everett-based engineering firm, hired Jennifer Hempel to coordinate the marketing efforts for the companys Everett and Tacoma offices. Hempel is a graduate from Bethel College in Minnesota and brings five years of marketing and communications experience to the company.
