Berger/ABAM

Joe Stockwell has been promoted to project manager at Berger/ABAM engineers. Since joining the firm in 1983, he has worked in the waterfront sector, providing comprehensive design, detailing, analysis and construction support for new and existing marine and waterfront structures. His current projects include the Sea-Land extension for the Port of Tacoma, on-call civil and structural U.S. Navy projects at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.

Susan Johnson has been promoted to project manager. Since joining the firm in 1979, Johnson has been providing support in the public works sector. She is currently working on several projects at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, including the main terminal seismic improvements, structural assessment of parking garage helixes and baggage claim device upgrade.

Berger/ABAM Engineers provides services in project management, civil and structural engineering, environmental planning and documentation, and construction management and support. The firm specializes in building, public works, special structure, transportation and waterfront projects.

JPC Architects

John Swolgaard has been promoted to associate at JPC Architects in Bellevue.

He is responsible for client management, shell and core architectural design and team coordination. He has been with JPC for four years and is currently managing Sierra OnLine's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Microsoft's Building 16-18 renovation and Millennium project in Redmond.

Michael Jones has been promoted to associate at the firm's branch office in Seattle. He is project manager for a number of new retail concessions projects at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and two high-tech companies in Seattle.

Dean Harris has been promoted to associate. He has been with JPC for 4 years and is providing general design for several corporate interiors.

Weber + Thompson Architects

Donna Nordquist has been promoted to senior associate. She manages Weber + Thompson's interior design studio, which includes restaurants, commercial, residential and hospitality projects.

She is working on the design and space plan for the firm's new 8,700 square-foot office space. She has been with the firm since 1995.

Steven Price has been promoted to senior associate. He is a project architect with a broad range of design and project management responsibilities in commercial, multifamily, financial facilities and restaurant design. He has been with the firm since 1995.

Chris Frost has been promoted to associate. He is a project architect for Union Plaza, a 23-story residential high rise in Denver, and for Colman Tower, a 13-story office building in Pioneer Square. Frost worked for Zimmer Gunsul Frasca.

R.W. Beck

David MacDonald, former principal of MacDonald Stephens Engineering, has joined R.W. Beck, a Seattle-based engineering, information technology and management consulting firm.

MacDonald's engineering experience includes water filtration plants, wastewater treatment plants and hydroelectric generation projects and pipelines.

R.W. Beck acquired MacDonald Stephens Engineering, a southern California firm, in January.

Tetra Tech/KCM

Bruce Ball has joined Tetra Tech/KCM as a senior project manager. He has 15 years of project management experience, 10 of which focused on wastewater treatment and environmental engineering. He is currently managing King County's odor control program.

Ball recently worked on King County's Denny Way/Lake Union combined sewer overflow project as the task leader for the $25 million CSO control pumping station and treatment facility.

Tetra Tech/KCM provides sanitary and hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, architecture, structural, mechanical, transportation, lake restoration and watershed management and fisheries planning and design. Its local office is in Seattle.

Visual Dynamics, a Seattle-based animation studio, announced the promotion of two of its design artists. Julian DePuma has been promoted to creative group lead and will be responsible for overseeing many of the company's creative projects. Dean Alker has been promoted to precision group lead and will be responsible for managing the company's technical projects.

Floyd & Snider

SEATTLE -- Dan McCarthy, a professional chemical engineer with over 20 years of environmental engineering experience, has joined Floyd & Snider Inc., providing expertise in project management, engineering and design. McCarthy held senior-level program management and operations management positions with Foster Wheeler Environmental in Bellevue. His technical specialties include the development of business and project strategy, project management, hazardous/radioactive waste management, the design of water and wastewater treatment systems, and soil remediation.

John Deere

Deere & Co. announced that it has agreed to purchase the foreign held shares of Shanghai GE Construction Equipment Engineering Co. — a joint venture rental company based in Shanghai, China.

John Deere Construction Co. will purchase the 60 percent owned by GE Capital Corp. and the 20 percent owned by American Construction Equipment Co. The remaining 20 percent will continue to be owned by the Shanghai Urban Construction Investment & Development General Corp.
