Julaine Fleetwood has joined CDi Mechanical Engineers as marketing director. She has 18 years of experience in the architecture/engineering industry. Fleetwood is an active member of the Society of Marketing Professional Services and was a recent recipient of its corporate marketing achievement award.
Ellis Paguirigan Designs (EPD) of Seattle has hired Janet Grimwad as graphic designer. Prior to joining EPD, she was a graphic designer at Shipwreck Beads for two years. She has also held positions with various companies in her native Australia.
Two senior project managers have been hired at Floyd & Snider, an environmental consulting firm based in Seattle.
John Leder is a certified ecologist with 27 years of experience as an environmental planner, investigator and multidisciplinary project manager. His expertise includes technical and management support for investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, including litigation support involving preparation of expert reports, deposition, trial support, and cost allocation.
Tom Colligan is a registered geologist with 14 years of experience managing and conducting hazardous waste site investigations and remediation in the Pacific Northwest. His experience includes the investigation and remediation of petroleum-contaminated groundwater and soil, resolution of environmental compliance issues and contaminated site redevelopment
Mahlum Architects, an architectural, interiors and planning firm with offices in Portland and Seattle, has named five new associates in its Seattle office. They are Gary Signs, Douglas Ashcraft, Brent Steven Compton, Susan Foreand Mark Cork.
Signs has more than 25 years of project management experience with health care clients. His current projects include the renovation of Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington, a major addition to the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane and renovations at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. He joined Mahlum in 1989.
Ashcraft, a project manager who joined the firm in 1996, has experience in the design of health care facilities. He is planning, programming and designing a multi-phased hospital replacement for Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario, Ore., a master plan for a clinical laboratory at Providence Medical Center in Seattle and a feasibility study for the renovation and addition of the Virginia Mason clinic in Federal Way.
As a project manager, Compton has managed seven high school projects in the last five years, including Ballard, Mercer Island, Bellingham, Tacoma, two in Mukilteo and two in Puyallup. He joined Mahlum in 1986.
Fore, a project architect who joined the firm in 1991, has worked on health care, education and commercial projects. She is working on the rehabilitation of the Coe Elementary School in Seattle and the Tolt River water treatment facility for the city of Seattle.
Cork, a project architect who joined the firm in 1998, has experience in health care, education, commercial and performing arts projects. He is involved in the design of the Seminar II building at The Evergreen State College in Olympia. Cork was involved in the recent renovation of the Polson Building, a 1910 structure that houses Mahlum's Seattle offices.
Two new principals have been named to The Berger Partnership, a landscape architecture and site-planning firm in Seattle.
Misty Philbin rejoined the firm in 1992 and became a senior associate in 1998. She is the principal-in-charge for the Epiphany parish master plan and implementation, Pacific Medical building renovations for Amazon.com and numerous residential projects.
Greg Brower is the principal-in-charge of the Space Needle Plaza and RTA commuter rail stations in Tukwila and Kent. His past projects include wetlands development for the Bill and Mary Gates' residence in Medina and the WWII Memorial in Olympia.
Hydro-Geosciences has hired three new employees. Jack Gardner has joined the firm as a project hydrogeologist. He has 11 years experience with geologic, geotechnical and environmental investigations, including projects for Sound Transit and the U.S. Department of Energy.
David Scofield, a senior engineering geologist/engineer, specializes in geologic hazards and geotechnical investigations, groundwater dewatering, water resources hydrogeology and tunnel projects. He is involved on a water resources project for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and soon will be working on Washington Department of Transportation projects. He was previously with the geotechnical branch of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Jean Strachan has joined the firm as a scientist and senior administrator for the Redmond office.
With offices in Redmond and Portland, Hydro-Geosciences provides services in geologic, hydrogeologic, geotechnical and geo-environmental consulting. The firm also performs geotechnical construction monitoring services for heavy civil and mining projects

Seattle general contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis has added Tom Browning as a senior project manager in its Special Projects Division and Steve Eirschele as its director of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering. The company also promoted Jane Louie and Jim Burk to senior project managers. Browning had worked for Lewis for five years in the past and was previously operations manager for contractor M.J. Takisaki. He is now focusing on office and bank branch projects. Eirschele is a registered professional engineer with 20 years of experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Louie will be working in the firm's Special Projects Division. She has been with the company for seven years and is in charge of several on-going accounts, including Starbucks and PathoGenesis. Burk has been with Lewis since 1984 and has 20 years of construction experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in architecture and urban design from the University of Washington. He is currently managing the company's work with Martin Selig Real Estate.
S.D. Deacon Corp. of Washington has made several additions and promotions to its field staff. New superintendents include Bob Thompson, Douglas Palmer, James Meyer, George Kobory and Bert Wailes. Deacon employees promoted to superintendent include Cliff Kendall and Scott Weston. Thompson studied construction management at Edmonds Community College and is presently constructing Redmond Town Square. Palmer has 20 years of experience and recently coordinated completion of the 7-acre Cooper Point Pavilion project in Olympia. Meyer also has 20 years of experience. He is heading up fieldwork on the Cooper Point Marketplace project in Olympia. Kobory, who studied architecture, urban development, and structural engineering at Highline Community College, is currently working on the Target store remodel job in Tacoma. Wailes has over 26 years of experience and is now completing a Ross Dress for Less store at Cascade Plaza in Everett. Kendall started with Deacon as a carpenter in 1994. He is now renovating a Safeway store in Milton. Weston joined Deacon in 1991 and has held a number of positions, such as carpenter, and closeout and warranty director. He is constructing a mixed-use project on the Kirkland waterfront. Recent promotions to the foreman position include: Mike Virdell, Chuck Maris, Eric Thompson, Jeff Marroni, Rob Taylor, Brett Johnson, Sung Hwang, Jim Clemetson and Jackson Buck. Also, Tom Brammer is a foreman in training.
The Seattle office of DPR Construction has hired seven new team members and promoted Chris Burkebile to project manager. Burkebile will be putting his eight years of construction experience to work as part of the company's management team, where he will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors as well as budgetary and scheduling issues. The new hires include Tim Comer, Mike Herzog, Tom Whitaker, Tracy Roberts, Cory Zonich, Jason Limp and Sean Ryan. Comer has 21 years of experience and formerly worked for M.A. Mortenson Co. At DPR, he is overseeing construction operations at the Bellevue Technology Tower as a project manager. Herzog also comes from M.A. Mortenson, where he implemented a regional scheduling program. He is now managing scheduling on a large biotechnology facility in Bothell as a project estimator. Whitaker, also an estimator, previously worked for Barclay White of Berwyn, Pa. He holds a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from the University of Colorado. Roberts, Zonich, Limp and Ryan are all project engineers. Roberts has 12 years of experience and holds a master's degree in architecture and a bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Washington. Zonich transferred from DPR's Portland office, where he worked on a major semiconductor wafer fabrication plant. Limp was previously with Dohn Construction of Fort Collins, Co., where he worked as an estimator for three years. Ryan is a University of Washington graduate and is working on Onyx Software's new headquarters in the 112th@12th project in Bellevue
