ALSC Architects

Three new principals have been named at ALSC Architects of Spokane.

Rustin Hall has been with the firm for seven years. He recently completed project development, design and construction administration for the Spokane Valley YMCA, the city of Richland’s “Shops Complex,” and a new 100,000-square-foot indoor practice facility at Washington State University.

Dave Huotari has been with ALSC for 14 years, and has been involved with a variety of K-12 school planning and construction projects. He is managing principal for the city of Spokane’s operations and maintenance facility, which is in the design development phase.

W. Scott Whitesitt, who began working for the firm seven years ago, designed the modernization of Trent Elementary School and several retail facilities for Coldwater Creek.

David Evans and Associates

David Evans and Associates (DEA), an environmental and engineering firm, has hired several employees in its Bellevue office. Jim St. John has joined the firm as a senior transportation engineer. St. John has 17 years of experience in civil engineering design and project management for a variety of road improvement and site development projects. He previously worked with Rosewater Engineering in Seattle and HMH in San Jose. His current work assignments include a hydraulic report on state Route 20 for the Washington State Department of Transportation, and a charter bus facility in the city of SeaTac. Dean Hobson rejoins DEA as a transportation planner. Prior to joining the firm, Hobson founded and operated CDH Engineering in Washington. He is working on Sound Transit’s Kirkland HOV access program. Michèle Herzberg joins DEA as senior graphic designer. Kim Hazard joins DEA as a marketing assistant. She previously worked for Earth Consultants and Hosey and Associates Engineering Co., both in Bellevue.

Hanson Engineers

Julie Rodwell has joined the Bellevue office of Hanson Engineers as the business development/project manager.

The firm, headquartered in Springfield, Ill., offers engineering and architecture services.

Before working for Hanson, Rodwell was program manager for the city of SeaTac, where she was liaison to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Sound Transit and the Olympic Pipeline Co. Previously, she was airport planning manager for King County International Airport (Boeing Field).

Pacific Architects

Pacific Architects, a Seattle design firm specializing in health care and institutional projects, has added three new employees.

Buthaina Gorham, project architect, is working on the surgery suite renovation for Children’s Hospital in Seattle. Previously, she worked for TGA Architects in San Francisco.

Robert Hoskins has joined the firm as a senior project manager. Formerly director of architecture for Heery International Northwest region, he will be working on the Children’s Hospital project, as well as new imaging centers in Everett and Federal Way.

Nestor Madeja joins the team as job captain, where he is involved in several projects for Children’s Hospital. Prior to working for Pacific Architects, he was with the Johnson Braund Design Group in Seattle and Fletcher Pacific Construction in Guam.

Reid Middleton

Terrie Flaming has been hired as the new human resources manager at Reid Middleton, a civil and structural engineering firm in Everett. Before joining the firm, she worked for Landau Associates in Edmonds.

R.W. Beck

Byron Bergman has joined consulting and engineering firm R.W. Beck as executive consultant for the firm’s Seattle office. Formerly in private practice, he has more than 25 years of professional experience in telecommunications and the electric and water utility industries.

Sclater Partners Architects

Sclater Partners Architects, a Seattle design and planning firm, has promoted four architects to the position of associate. Scott Kunnanz, who joined the firm three years ago, is project manager on a new 10-story office building at Fifth and Jackson, the final phase of the Union Station project, and is assisting with the new Fifth and Yesler office building. He recently completed a 36-unit condominium on the Willamette River in Portland, Ore.

Bradley Smith, who has been with the firm for four years, is project manager for the Bellevue Art Museum, a 37,000-square-foot museum designed by Steven Holl. He is also working on the proposed expansion of Bellevue Place.

Richard Deno is the designer and project manager for Fifth and Yesler building. Other recent work includes the expansion of Bellevue Square.

Carlos de la Torre, who previously was a partner at de la Torre Architects in Albuquerque, N.M., joined the firm in 1999. He is project manager on a variety of tenant improvement projects, including a six-story office building at 425 Second Ave. W. and a two-story office and retail building at Third and Battery, both in Seattle.

Candace and Geoff Daigle of Daigle Design, a Bainbridge Island graphic design and Web communications company, have been selected as members of the advisory board to Northwest College of Art. The college is located in Poulsbo and concentrates on studies in graphic design, multimedia and fine arts.

McCarthy

McCarthy's Northwest Division has hired three construction management graduates as project engineers. They include: Thomas Pesacreta, a graduate of Central Washington University, Timothy Hanson, a Washington State University graduate, and John Sharp, who is a graduate of California State University at Chico. Pesacreta has five years of industry experience, including work as a project coordinator, where he was responsible for checking submittals, logging and tracking change orders, bid requests and close out items. Hanson has over five years of experience, including a role as a project engineer, where he tracked submittals, processed change orders, performed estimating and assisted in other areas of project coordination and management. Sharp has over three years of experience, most recently as an intern field engineer.
