Foushee & Associates

Bellevue-based general contractor Foushee & Associates has hired two project engineers and promoted an existing project engineer to project manager. The new project engineers include Aaron Cady and Peter Schroeder. Cady is a recent graduate of Washington State University and Schroeder holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. Nigel Starr has been promoted to project manager and is working the company's tenant improvement department managing a variety of projects. He has been with Foushee for nearly two years.

Nuprecon

Nuprecon has hired Brian Pare as sales director and promoted Joe De Los Santos to director of project management. Both positions were created as part of an overall corporate expansion and restructure plan moving the company from a regional selective demolition specialist to a national firm with a full package of demolition-related services. Pare brings 15 years of sales experience, including construction information and publications. He is responsible for accounts in Washington and Oregon, and is leading the Nuprecon sales team. De Los Santos has been with Nuprecon four years, moving from project manager to chief estimator to senior project manager. In his new role, he is responsible for the Redmond division demolition project cycle from bid to closeout.

HCI Steel Buildings

Arlington-based HCI Steel Buildings has hired Ken Pedersen as its district sales manager for Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada. Pedersen has an extensive background in the industrial and commercial construction business. He will work from his Edmonton office. HCI makes buildings for commercial, industrial and institutional markets in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Pacific Rim.

Safety programs

The Evergreen Safety Council is offering a class in Seattle on injury/illness prevention and hazard communications. The course covers the mandatory elements of an accident prevention program as required by state regulations. It also covers the required elements of a hazard communications program for basic compliance with federal and state regulations regarding chemicals and substances in the workplace. Class will be held 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cost is $165 for Safety Council members and $195 for non-members. For more information, contact the Safety Council at (800) 521-0778.

HBB

HBB, a mechanical engineering firm based in Seattle, has hired two engineers.

Matt Wakabayashi, design engineer, has two years of experience in design/build and consulting work. His assignments include a new elementary school in Arlington; a library, classroom and music facility upgrade at Darrington High School; and classroom additions and remodeling at Granite Falls Middle School.

Vincent Cheng, design engineer, also has two years of professional experience. He is working on the computer lab remodel project at Seattle Central Community College, the culinary arts center at Bellingham Technical College, and the Ridgeway Hall residence at Western Washington University.

Parametrix

Mujib Ahmed has been hired by Sumner-based Parametrix as the associate business line manager for transportation planning and design. Ahmed has 25 years of experience in planning, environmental analysis, design and construction of urban arterials, highways and interchanges. He was president of the Washington state chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers from 1989 to 1990. Prior to joining Parametrix, Ahmed was a principal consulting engineer with Harding Lawson Associates, previously known as Alpha Engineering Group.

Camp Dresser & McKee

Cello Vitasovic has joined Camp Dresser & McKee's Bellevue office as a principal. He has more than 15 years experience in environmental engineering. A member of the International Association for Water Pollution Research and Control, Vitasovic is also a part-time faculty member at the University of Washington.

Entranco

Rick Della has been hired as executive vice president for branch operations in Entranco's Bellevue headquarters. He will oversee operations of the firm's nine western offices. Della has 22 years of professional experience, working for engineering firms such as Imodco, ENSR Consulting and Engineering, and Foster Wheeler Environmental Corp. He also helped establish a costal engineering and marine surveying firm, Meridian Ocean Systems, which he led for 10 years.
