Prior to that, he was an investment banker with a Wall Street firm, arranging financing for large construction projects. Dixon

Don Dixon has joined Pacific Fisherman, a Seattle-based outfitter for fishing vessels, as general manager and shipyard director. Dixon brings 28 years of experience in the marine marketplace to the company. He is also an active ship surveyor, a licensed naval architect and a marine engineer for the state of Washington.

Callison

Callison announced the addition of two medical planning and design experts, Kerrie H. P. Cardon and John N. Jex, to the firm’s health care team.

Prior to becoming a registered architect, Cardon worked as a registered nurse in intensive care/coronary care units, in the emergency room and on the orthopedic, pediatric and medical/surgical floors. She applies her knowledge of medical care and functions in the design and planning of all types of health care facilities.

Jex brings more than 23 years of health care design experience to Callison’s health care projects and clients. A senior medical planning specialist, his expertise has been in developing environments for the complex planning and functional requirements of specialized medical services and equipment.

Callison provides strategic planning and patient-focused design services for health care leaders such as the Sisters of Providence Health System, St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore., the Franciscan Health System and Pierce County Human Services.

CH2M Hill

CH2M Hill announced the appointment of Susan Frost to a sales and marketing position with the global water business group working out of the Portland office. Her primary responsibilities will be to manage the procurement process for water related projects with water, waste water and water resource clients throughout the United States.

Frost has 18 years experience as a consultant and marketing director for engineering and architecture firms. She has been president of her own consulting firm, SEF Consulting Inc. and most recently, director of business development for Thompson Vaivoda & Associates, an architecture firm in Portland.

NBBJ

Bruce Bonine, Christian Carlson and Randy Benedict were promoted to firm principals for the Seattle office of NBBJ. In addition, 10 individuals moved to senior associate status, and 26 became firm associates.

Bonine joined NBBJ in 1983 and has authored numerous articles and publications on patient care, quality environments and the effects of technology on the future of health care design and was recently a featured speaker at the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health "Millennium" conference attended by health care architects and executives from around the world.

Carlson joined NBBJ three years ago after 16 years of national experience, including leading his own practice. Since joining NBBJ in 1991, he has been a lead designer for the King Street Center, Starbucks headquarters, the Mann Building renovation and Wild Ginger restaurant, headquarters for Targeted Genetics, ICOS, Cell Pro and others.

KPFF

Kamyar Nikzad has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Nizkad specializes in the design and renovation of bridge and waterfront structures. He manages various projects for the Port of Seattle, including the Terminal 18 berth deepening, the Terminal 5 soil structure enhancement and retrofit and the Terminal 30 crane rail upgrade. John Hochwalt was also named associate. He is the lead structural engineer for the laboratory buildings at Immunex's Research and Technology Center at Terminal 88. The $500 million Helix Project -- the first phase of the new center -- totals 1.1 million gross square feet and is expected to be complete fall/winter 2003.

McGowan Broz

Patrick A.Tilley has been named an associate at McGowan Broz. Tilley has more than 18 years of electrical design experience and has served as the commercial department manager at McGowan Broz for the past four years. His current projects include electrical and lighting design for the new Capitol Hill Library; electrical design for Seattle’s International District Village Square, Phase 2 project; and work at the Washington State Football/Soccer Stadium in Seattle. He also recently completed work for the AT&T Call Center in Beaverton, Ore.; and the VoiceStream Call Center in Bellingham.

Casne Engineering

Bill Koogler has joined Casne Engineering as manager of the High-Voltage Power Department. He will be responsible for managing the high-voltage electrical efforts in the Bellevue and Spokane offices of Casne Engineering. Koogler has more than 25 years of experience in engineering planning, design and construction management of industrial, municipal and utility power systems. Prior to joining Casne, he worked for HDR Engineering in Bellevue and R.W. Beck and Associates in Seattle.

Geise Architects

Geise Architects recently promoted Judy Tucker to associate principal. She has played a role on both residential and commercial projects in her eight years at the firm -- including work as project architect on the 81 Vine Penthouse condominiums in Belltown. For the past four years, she has served on the city of Seattle Construction Code Advisory Board.
