The Seattle office of Northwest Architectural Co. recently promoted the following architects. Guy Overman has been promoted to principal. He is the project manager for the Leavenworth Civic Center, the modernization of Renton High School, a new Performing Arts Center for Renton High School and the recently completed Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup.
Mark Gifford, Malcolm Jollie and Kevin Flanagan have been promoted to associate principal. Gifford is the project manager for renovation work at the West Coast Grand Hotel & Conference Center in Seattle and the new Camas High School. Jollie is the project manager for the new Middle School for Longview School District and the new Junior High School for Lake Washington School District. Flanagan is project manager for Granite Falls High School and Middle School modernization and a new Middle School for Tacoma School District.
Jackson Carter, Bennett Hill and Steven Shiver have been promoted to senior associates. Carter is working on the Whidbey General Hospital, the new facilities for the Hearing Speech and Deafness Center and miscellaneous projects at Harborview Medical Center and the UW School of Medicine. Hill has worked as project architect on projects for Shorecrest High School, Sunset Elementary School, and the award winning Timbercrest Junior High School. Shiver’s projects include the Prune Hill Elementary School, and a bus transportation facility for Camas School District.
Boris Srdar and Steven Wescott have been promoted to associates. Srdar is project architect for a new Middle School for Tacoma and a new Junior High School for Lake Washington. Wescott has experience in the medical field as well as K-12 education.
URS announced the addition of Robert Burk as principal geologist of its Seattle Office. Burk has 30 years of global experience in the practical application of geological sciences. With an emphasis on linear infrastructure and energy facilities, Burk supports permit applications, site characterization, and geologic hazards investigations for public and private clients. He is currently focusing on an Environmental Impact Statement for the United States Forest Service.
Mithun Architects + Designers + Planners has announced 12 new associates and eight new senior associates.
Promoted to associate are: Christopher Dixon; Margarett Harrison; Jennifer Hawkins; Shelby Heimbach; Lisa Herriott; Andrew Hoyer; Clement King; Pak Koong; Steve McDonald; Casey Riske; Ira Rodriguez and Dan Swabb. Senior associates include John Amanat; Ken Boyd; Steve Bull; Sean Cryan; Peter Damento; David Goldberg; Heather Hargesheimer and John Shoesmith.
James Thomack recently joined DLR as architectural designer. His work has primarily been on Fry's Electronics, Mall 205 and Boeing. Matthew Virkler works in marketing and public relations for the corporate studio and is responsible for national Web site copy. Hok Ong comes to DLR Group as a mechanical engineer with more than 22 years of industrial, aviation and commercial experience. Ong is presently working on Mariner High School.
Scott Adams is an architectural designer in Seattle's retail group with experience working for major retail clients. Having made significant contributions to Eddie Bauer, Center Trust and Valley Mall projects, he is working on Fry's Electronics, a nationwide electronics store. Ken Graham has been hired as a structural drafter and has been working on the Seattle Crime Lab and the Washington Department of Corrections Health Care. Larry Ahern is a registered architect who has joined the education studio with far-reaching management, design and marketing skills. Ian Kell, architectural designer, works in the corporate studio on Boeing projects.
CG Engineering recently announced the addition of two civil engineers to the staff. R. Michael Spano joined the civil department at CG Engineering as a senior civil engineer. He brings more than 25 years of engineering experience including design of land development projects of all sizes including large plats, short plats, apartment complexes, public street construction, commercial and industrial sites in several jurisdictions. Shawn Lynch has joined the civil department. Lynch has been working on a Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse project in Mill Creek that involves storm water design, utility layout, grading and off-site improvements.
Hassan Tondravi recently joined INCA Engineers in Bellevue as chief mechanical engineer. Tondravi's fields of specialization include hydraulic turbines, pumps, penstocks and manifolds, cranes, gate equipment, piping, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and value engineering. Roy Ouchida recently joined INCA as senior electrical engineer. He will assume project-engineering responsibilities for several of the company’s projects involving electrical design.
Susan Millan joined Shockey/Brent as a planner. Millan brings experience in several categories ranging from project management positions, board of directors, editor, housing coordinator and planning for various projects
