Three new appointments have been announced for on the Bellevue Art Museum Board of Trustees. Roberta Goodnow is owner of the Goodnow Group, a Seattle consulting firm. Josef Vascovitz recently worked at Microsoft and Annette Cleaves has worked in the nonprofit sector since 1975.

Baylis Architects announced the promotion of Michael Chaplin to principal. Chaplin will enhance the firm’s strategic focus in commercial office and retail projects located primarily in the Northwest.
He leads the development team for Barnes and Noble Bookstores throughout the Northwest. He also leads the development teams for Twilight Center, Riverview and RidgePointe office projects and the Chehalis Hotel.
Lewis Architecture + Interior Design promoted two members of the team. Stig Carlson is now an architectural associate. Since joining the firm in October of 1998, Carlson has served as a project manager/project architect in charge of the Orcas Christian School and Church Project; the Kirkland Teen Center and three custom residences in the San Juan Islands.
Laroy Gant has also been promoted to architectural associate. Since joining the firm in July of 1999, Gant has served as a project manager/project architect in charge of the Woodinville City Hall and the Puyallup Public Library projects.
Thomas Bowen has joined Glosten Associates, a Seattle-based consulting engineering firm serving the marine industry. Bowen specializes in design of ship propulsion and auxiliary systems.
Bowen was ensigned in the U.S. Merchant Marine/Naval Reserve and received his third assistant engineers license for diesel or steam vessels of unlimited horsepower issued by the U.S. Coast Guard. As a marine engineer for Glosten, Bowen’s responsibilities include cost analysis of different ship and barge conversions, as well as marine systems analysis and design. He is working on the M/V Tustumena refurbishment for the Alaska Marine Highway System.
Weber + Thompson, a full-service design firm, announced the new hires of Ken Jensen, architect; Jim Westcott, architect; Tom McCardle, project manager; Tim Baldridge, job captain; Nina Rubenstein, intern architect; Mandy Reed, interior designer; and Nathalie Gonzalez, intern architect.
Jensen joined the firm's large projects group as a project architect. Jensen is working on Weber + Thompson's $100 million Union Plaza project -- a 1 million-square-foot mixed-use high rise development in the Denver Technological Center -- and various other designs.
Westcott is responsible for design and project management for a variety of mixed-use projects including Broadway Plaza on Capitol Hill in Seattle. McCardle has also joined the firm's large projects group as a project manager. McCardle is working on design development and technical detailing as part of Weber + Thompson's seven-person Crystal Pool team. The Crystal Pool is a 22-story luxury high-rise condominium project in downtown Seattle. Baldridge is responsible for design development and construction documentation for a variety of mixed-use projects. He is working on a variety of high-density urban infill mixed-use projects.
Rubenstein is providing support for a 238-unit mixed-use complex on Queen Anne. Reed is responsible for various multifamily interiors projects, and has experience in an array of projects including performing arts/cultural, commercial and mixed-use interiors.
Gonzalez works in the commercial office projects team and has more than four years of experience working in commercial design and site planning.
Jeremy DelMar has joined Roth Hill Engineering Partners as an engineer in training, providing direct support for design, plan review, contract writing and construction observation for many of its clients. A former materials engineer at Kiewit Pacific, DelMar has a civil engineering degree from Washington State University and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Chloie Miller has joined Roth Hill as government affairs liaison providing community involvement and legislative analysis for its clients. A former legislative assistant at the Washington State Senate and public relations specialist at Cruise West, Miller brings seven years of experience to her new role.
Megan Mills is a new construction services and contract administrator leading the engineering, construction services and survey departments' publishing, reprographic and administrative needs. She brings seven years experience to her new role.
MulvannyG2 Architecture has hired Ken Hedlund as an associate and Shane Katsoolis as a senior designer for its Interiors Studio, which operates out of the firm's Seattle-Lake Union office.
Hedlund will be acting as technical lead working to establish and implement standards and procedures for the interiors studio. He will also be managing the interior design of MulvannyG2 key projects, including the 163,000-square-foot Advanced Technology Laboratories Research & Development Building in Bothell, and the Costco Wholesale corporate headquarters building in Issaquah. MulvannyG2 designed both buildings.
Katsoolis will be working with MulvannyG2's clients to establish interior design goals. He is currently working on the interior design for a three-story corporate office for a medical manufacturing company as well as corporate headquarters for Nitze-Stagen. He has worked with health care, hospitality, and call center clients including the new generation of contact centers for Safeco. He has more than 15 years experience in the design profession.

SvR Design Co., a civil engineering, landscape architecture and wetlands restoration firm, has hired several new employees. Greg Giraldo joins SvR as a design engineer bringing more than three years of experience. His projects include F Street in Port Townsend, the Senior Services Tower in Belltown, Truman High School, Point Defiance Zoo and the Woodland Park Zoo Discovery Center.
M. Lynne Thompson recently came to SvR as a design engineer. She is working on C.Y.O. Camp Hamilton and Boy Scout Camps Brinkley and Omache, the Pierce County Environmental Services Building Ballfields and Olympic College Lincoln Avenue Improvements.
Crystal Bresley, CAD technician, will work on a variety of projects including F Street in Port Townsend, Palisades Retreat Center, Redmond High School and various residential projects.
Jennifer Rickard, CAD technician, brings more than five years of drafting experience to the SvR CAD staff. Some of her projects include Olympic College Lincoln Avenue Improvements, J.G. Commons Senior Housing on Vashon Island, and Holly Parkm, 102-acre housing and infrastructure redevelopment.
New project assistants are Deborah Gabriel and Kim McElwain. Gabriel comes from Shannon and Wilson’s Environmental Services Department, while McElwain is returning to SvR after three years in the import-export business.
CivilTech Corp., a Bellevue structural, geotechnical and software engineering firm, has two new staff members. Ibrahim Turkmen has joined the structural group as a staff engineer. Turkmen has an M.S. from the University of Washington in civil engineering. He is working on structural engineering for the Sound Transit light rail project in Seattle, the Marine Drive Improvements project in Snohomish County, and a multi-family residential project. Bruce D. Lux is a construction inspector specializing in utilities. He is monitoring construction of the outfall for the Denny Way/Lake Union Combined Sewer Overflow Control project in Seattle.
David Evans and Associates, Inc., a professional services consulting firm providing multidisciplinary environmental and engineering, has hired several employees for its Bellevue office. Jerry Drake was recently hired as a senior outside plant (OSP) designer. Drake has 25 years of experience in telecommunications management and design. He was a network design engineer and construction manager for MCI Worldcom in Seattle, network design engineering manager for US West (now Qwest) in Seattle and a loop electronics specialist and route manager for GTE/Contel of California.
Kelly Anderson joins the firm as the Wireless Development Manager. As former national director for Alvar, Inc., Anderson initiated and led acquisitions, managed expansion of regional operations, and created design specifications. His wireless experience includes zoning and permitting in five western states.
Gerik Wuth joins DEA’s Telecommunications and Energy Services Division as a CADD Technician. Wuth, formerly with NorthStar Communications in Bellevue, has more than four years of AutoCADD design experienced in drafting plans for a variety of projects, including fiber optic and construction projects.
David George was recently appointed to the Survey Services Division as a GPS specialist. George has more than seven years experience in surveying, including expertise in GPS and terrestrial surveys. A GPS Specialist with Geoline Positions Systems since 1988, he led projects across Washington and Alaska providing GPS technology support and training to the Washington State Highway patrol, WSDOT, and various cities and counties.
DCI Engineers announces the following additions and promotions in its Bellevue office: Robb Dibble has been promoted to project manager, structural division. Dibble is currently working on a seven-story residential tower in Seattle, a concrete tilt-up gymnasium addition for Calvary Temple School in Modesto, a concrete tilt-up classroom and gymnasium for Cedar Park School in Bothell, and a seismic retrofit upgrade with tenant improvement for Primera Medical Campus in Mount Lake Terrace. Matthew Stabbert has joined DCI Engineers as project engineer. His professional experience includes calculations for timber structures, steel frames, connections and retaining walls. Stabbert is well versed in the design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, timber structures, foundations, structural analysis and project management. Among his current projects are a Residence Inn in San Jose, an Olympic Federal Savings in Tumwater and a tenant improvement for the Cheesecake Factory at Bellevue Square.
Power Engineers, Inc., a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announced the addition of Gary Snow to the company’s Boise office. Snow is the new mechanical facilities department manager in the industrial facilities business unit. For the past 11 years, Snow has provided clients project management and facilities engineering services, encompassing mechanical design and analysis, procurement support, construction and start-up. His most recent experience includes acting as deputy engineering manager and engineering department manager for Washington Group International’s Boise office.
Dinsdale Carlson & Vail, Consulting Engineers recently hired Orville Eide, who brings more than 25 years of design experience to our firm. He has participated in the design of electrical distribution systems for a wide variety of projects from the Kingdome to the latest East Tower expansion at Swedish Hospital. He brings experience in the design of specialty areas for surgery, intensive care, radiology, computer and hyperbaric facilities, and systems design for health care facilities. Also joining the staff is Gary Gerber, as a principal. He brings more than 27 years of experience in all facets of electrical engineering for commercial, institutional and high-tech facilities. He also has served as a consultant to many local architectural firms and design/build contractors. Key clients include Microsoft, Corporation F5 Networks and AT&T Wireless Services.
