Portland architecture, planning and interior design firm Fletcher Farr Ayotte added Mary Smith, Brenda Katz and Jennifer Richard. Smith has more than 12 years of interior design experience in the Portland area and is working on a mixed-use housing project in the Pearl District. Katz has more than 20 years of experience as a project designer/architect. Richard is an architectural intern who recently graduated from University of Oregon and is working on projects at Crater Lake and Mount Rainier.

The Boise office of Parametrix recently added Cody Janson and Joe Tate. Janson, a civil engineer, transferred from the Sumner office of Parametrix and has worked on transportation projects throughout Puget Sound. Tate has eight years of experience in civil engineering, mostly on traffic design and studies. He worked at Treasure Valley Engineers and Washington Group International in Boise. Mel Sears of the Portland office was recently re-elected vice president of the Oregon chapter's board for the American Council of Engineering Companies. Dwight Miller, a principal in Parametrix's Bellevue office, joined the Washington ACEC board earlier this summer.

Northwest Architectural Co. promoted several people to associate: Trish Buzan, a CAD manager working on school projects, Dan Kurtz, who is working on medical projects in Coeur d'Alene and Butte, Mont., Don McKinney, a construction contract administrator and cost estimator, Mark McMicheal, an electrical engineer, Randy Wilson, who is working on school projects in Spokane, and Rachel Zarkos, an executive assistant. Northwest Architectural Co. provides architectural, planning, electrical and communications engineering and capital facilities consulting services.

Landscape architect Elizabeth Ann Flanagan joined the Portland firm Walker Macy. She designed bike paths and urban trails while based in Chicago, and also worked on security design at a water purification plant in Chicago. Walker Macy does site planning and design for public parks and recreation facilities, urban plazas and campuses.

Mark French recently relocated from Buffalo, N.Y., to rejoin Dykeman as a project manager. French has more than 20 years of experience and will work on Safeway projects in the Northwest. Kenneth Levesque joined Dykeman from Las Vegas, where he recently completed his master's degree while working for an architectural firm. Levesque is working on a Bellevue project called Avalon on the Square.

Christopher L. Peterson joined Cierra Electrical Group as a senior project manager. He will manage electrical design for the Tulalip Tribe's casino expansion and hotel. Gary Guloy was promoted to project manager, and Corie Harns was promoted to designer. Cierra is a Seattle electrical engineering firm.

PAE Consulting Engineers, a mechanical, electrical and lighting engineering firm, added Ruwan Jayaweera, who got his master's in mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland. Jeff Jackson is an electrical engineer. Nedzib Biberic recently earned his bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Portland State University. Grant Parthemer, who has been with PAE for 13 years, was recently promoted to senior associate. Conrad Brown was promoted to associate, and is working on university and medical center projects. Also promoted were Teofil Micu, Eric Walczyk, Robert Smith and Brad Wilson.

Hewitt Architects promoted Andrew Engel to senior associate. Engel oversees design and documentation for the Sound Transit Link Light Rail Station in Tukwila. Amoreena R. Miller was recently named associate, and is project manager for 617 Market, a four-story mixed-use project in Kirkland. Hewitt added Charlie Wright as project manager for a senior housing project in Ballard. Liz Birkholz joined the landscape architecture department to work on projects at South Lake Union and in Woodinville. Jeff Phillips, part of the Sound Transit team, is working on Airport Link and the Lakewood Transit Center. Krishna Bharathi is doing construction administration for 500 Mercer, a mixed-use project in Seattle. Joe Stroming is project architect for ArtLofts in Tacoma, Jen Lien is project manager for the Pierce County Emergency Operations Center. Patrick St. Laurent is working on the Lakewood Transit Center. Tim Shea is assistant business manager. Lauren Mack is an intern from the University of Oregon.

Elliott Bay Design Group

Elliott Bay Design Group added electrical engineer Charles E. Beck to design and support electrical engineering systems for the Seattle naval architecture and marine engineering company. Beck will start work on a tanker and a landing craft. Roy Neyman and David Wright also have been hired. Neyman is a project manager with 30 years of marine industry experience. Wright's 16 years of drafting and design experience is mostly in shipyard production piping and marine electrical design.

Seattle Structural

Structural and civil engineering firm Seattle Structural PS added two engineers. Michael Braun is managing construction of Seattle Aquarium's Pier 59 renovation and designing an assisted-living facility in Issaquah. Shawn Ryan has rejoined the firm to work on a seismic upgrade of the Montlake Community Center and design retail warehouses in Korea.
